As a Habs fan I’d offer a 2023 1st, 2023 2nd and 2023 3rd.

That would just be my offer. I don’t expect th yotes to take it.

But the Canadiens wouldn't do that, they will do their best to land the a top 2 pick next year which is 10x better than this year

The Habs could all but guarantee themselves Shane Wright and get another high end prospect for this.

With MSL “righting the ship” they could sign a FA or two and try competing again.

IMO it is a risky move but the Habs should do this.

The Bergevin way? That ain't happening. They will be sellers and go full rebuild 100% to make sure they stay competitive for years to come

Was thinking something like Stützle and Ottawa first round pick. Wright is the best player but Tim and 4th OA could be tempting:)
Yotes would add one of there seconds. Be creative and hopefully get off this rebuild in 2 to 3 years.

No chance!

Honestly I can’t think of anything realistic that would make us trade the pick. Everything has a price but I just don’t see it happening. The offer would have to be insane.

The top prospect refusing to play in Arizona would do it.

If Montreal ends up with a pick ahead of Arizona this year I'd trade it to Arizona for the right to flip picks in 2023 :sarcasm:

With the Yotes draft luck I can see the Habs winning the lottery.

I like my Sens proposal but maybe something from the Blackhawks. And no we don’t want Strome back.

Dach and swapping 1st hmmm

That's basically a locked in 1st overall pick, with the crooked Bettman running this league.

Arizona would never move it.

For poop and giggles, I start the bidding at Tyson Barrie and Mike Smith

Yeah, Arizona should just keep the pick. Hopefully it gives them a superstar caliber player that they desperately need.
If they move it it will probably be a down trade for a slightly lower pick + a 2nd rounder at the draft. Moving it willy nilly isn't going to happen.

Obviously, Arizona won’t get a real offer worth accepting. The upside of 1st overall is massive. the trade partner would have to gut themselves in the process. I’ll take a stab at it from Detroit’s perspective though.

2022 1st (10ish overall) + Simon Edvinsson as a base would probably be the best offer Detroit could muster (and at that, I’m not sure id actually offer it) with another solid young player involved (Zadina? veleno? hronek?). I’m sure that’s not enough and Detroit needs Edvinsson as much as they need wright.

On the other hand, If a package around Detroit’s 1sts in 2022 and 2023 can get some traction I’d be quite interested in that but I’m sure it’s a less enticing package.

But why on earth would Ottawa make that trade? They wouldn't. Arizona is better off drafting a player and hoping they get a superstar, because no one is gonna trade one that they've already developed for a lottery ticket.

I guess it's plausible that the Yotes could trade down at the draft. Although, they already have so many picks.

It's more likely that they will keep their first and wheel and deal with their many other picks IMO.

WE are talking New Orleans Saints kind of overpayment here I think. Like your whole draft + 1st next year. Something like that might get it done.
