Another poll for cry babies. Fire this trade that. Don't do this. Wait.
Not one coherent plan. If you fire Jackson, Bowman, Schwartz,
And toss out the Skinners, etc etc., how and who will replace them in a realistic manner?
What kind of hockey do you want played given that you still have some of the core? Are you fixing what we have and continuing down this road of dipsy doodle top 6 and try to hold the fort bottom 6.
What type of defense do you want to run. Right now everyone wants a 2 way defenseman to run with Nursery. Most likely we need 2 RH D and make Emberson a 7th. What kind of D will you get. How will they fit in with the overall plan?
As far as Goalies how much $ are you going to commit? Dominik Hasek is not out there. You likely will have to choose between a much better D and readonable goaltentding OR stick mostly with the D we have and bring in a Strong Tender close to the deadline.
YOU ALL MUST KNOW BY NOW THAT THROWING SH-T AT THE WALL DOESN'T WORK AND MAKING SWEEPING CHANGES WITHOUT AN OVERALL PLAN JUST PLAIN SUCKS.
yes Stan Bowman mostly managed what Tallon built, though he was successful at that. Maybe at this point we need a little more builder rather than manager. LOL.
Given the last 6-8 months our Pro scouts are absolutely dismal.
Jeez, I apologize. Forgot for a moment that this place is about fantasy, working out frustrations, whining etc.
There are probably several dozen qualified goalie coaches that could be hired from various organizations throughout professional hockey and its a safe bet that most of them are on par or better than what Schwartz brings to the table given the evidence of how his players perform.
As for a coherent plan, we do not know who is or will become available as the season is still young but its a safe bet that goalies and players will become available as teams sell assets, like they do every year.
My What Would I do I feel is rather coherent and as said on or around the TDL, not tomorrow morning. (already discussed firing Schwartz above)
1. Find an upgrade physical winger who can PK for the bottom line. This is obviously needed and might even be Cagguila but a better option would be preferred.
2. Farm Ryan, bring up Philp. Unless Philp regresses or is hurt, this is almost a certainty to happen this year, at the very least Philp coming up to C the bottom line and Ryan becoming the 13th or 14th F.
3. Move J Skinner for cap space when Kane returns. Yes Skinner has a NTC but I am sure he would rather play somewhere than be in the press box.
4. Move S Skinner in a deal that brings a bonafide starting goalie to Edmonton who is an upgrade over Skinner. If need be you move Pickard and Skinner becomes the backup but Skinners cap goes towards a goalie.
5. Finally, trade for a top 4 D. Get salary retained in the deal, again all do-able and feasible.
As far as assets go we have 2 first round picks in 26 and 27, and plenty of depth picks available. We have Savoie, O Reilly, Ackey, and others that we can use as prospects in our win now window where these players are 2-4 years out from contributing meaningfully.
And as said, players will be made available either as rentals or players with 1 year left on deals, as they are every single season.
