What would be the absolute ceiling for Rantanen's next contract?

For the whole career Mack has 0,42 goals, 0,73 assists and 1,15 points per game.

Mikkos numbers are 0,47 goals, 0,63 assists and 1,1 points per game.

You cant in your imagination say that he has spent all of that time on Macks wing.

Mikko scores goals at better pace, but makes a bit less points.

They are different type of players and you need both. Sure Mikko would propably make less money if they both have contracts made tomorrow, but they arent.

If you dont wanna pay Mikko the amount then dont and let him go somewhere else.

In the past five seasons, Nate has 1.52 points per game compared to Mikko's 1.28 points per game. Both great players. Different tiers.

Also, I don't know where to find numbers on this (if they exist) but can you tell me which season of Mikko's career was spent playing on the wing of a center other than MacKinnon? I can't. I can only think of brief stretches and times when MacKinnon was injured, but the default has always been Nate and Mikko playing together.

And I don't want to pay Mikko the amount, which is why I'm in favour of _________ (we're not allowed to talk about in this thread) rather than letting him walk for nothing - assuming he wants as much as or more than MacKinnon.

Is Mikko mercurial, prone to lapses and who occasionally has the attention span of a chihuahua? Yup. But. BUT . . . When he's on, he one of the best 5 forwards in the league. He's like a clean version of Nichushkin.

Would he be this successful on a non-MacKinnon line on a different team? Maybe. Doubtful. But I know what he's like on THIS team and I, for one, am not interested in finding out the real world result of that thought experiment. For now . .
