What wingers do you think should be tried as a centre and what centres should be converted to a winger?

Zegras is a good one.

Trent Frederic was a center his whole career but with the Bruins he's played more wing than center. Personally I think he's a better C and should play there, but the team insists he's a wing, signed Geekie to play C for Frederic rather than just trust Frederic to play C. Weird.

Loved Buchnevich at center for St. Louis. Only issue was faceoffs but looked very good other than that

Jake Guentzel was drafted as a center and I always wondered what would happen if he had moved to C to alleviate the issues of wingers on the Pens with Malkin moved to wing on Jake's line. I kind of hoped for it in 2018 but ah well.

It's funny to think about now but he was taken as a C because the Pens needed to drafted depth there.

Meanwhile the Pens did the same with Staal and envisioned him as a winger and he played as one in his rookie year and then moved to C after as a need and never went back to a regular winger as he moved back to his natural position of C.

I kind of wish Rust was developed into a C. It would have solved a lot of 3C issues last season. With his speed and 2-way game it could have worked.

I feel like Mark Stone would absolutely dominate as a C. Mackinnon on the wing would be filth, that much speed coming down the wing, I don't know how you keep up with him.
Yeah, but keeping Mackinnon as a C allows him to use his best tool, skating, more than playing at wing would.

They did put Boldy at Center for a bit at the end of the season, though that was when their top 3 actual centers were all injured. They have experimented with him there multiple times though, and he does center Kap and Zucc when they load the line up for after PK shifts. I don't think Boldy's foot speed from the past two seasons is at the level the Wild would like for their Center demands, but he does have time to develop that, and his faceoffs and D positioning are already pretty good.
There is talk of playing Yurov at C this year. He has the wheels and size for it.

It's easy for most (not all) C's to become wings, much harder to do the reverse.

I'd put Marner between both of them, cover up for McDavid on the defensive end.
Playing a defenseman as center is bold

I'm absolutely convinced that Ladislav Smid would fit right in as a 4th line winger.
Oh for sure if he had any offensive instincs at all he would have been a great puck carrying dman but he could only get himself to the corners .

Is this where one makes Drouin jokes?
I forgot how they traded for a winger
to fill their center hole Lol

Poor Toronto fans. Just resigned their generational talent and they’re still dreaming of McDavid.

Matthews does play in the ozone like a winger and marner like a center so may as well switch them to normal toss the shooter to the wing concept and open up more ice for marner to pass to .
