What is Stepan worth next year and will there be money left to sign him after all the UFA'S get signed?
Should Sather try to extend him this year?
Should Sather try to extend him this year?
6 years, $36 million
Well, this was good timing:
"Ryan O'Rielly agrees to 2 yr deal. $ 5.8 and $6.2."

O'Reilly 73-118=191 in 345 games, $6M per. Stepan 73-124=197 in 294 games. When he comes up for arb next year, $6M is his comparable.
stepan, staal, hagelin, zucc, and msl.
rangers are goingto lose a lot of talent.
6 per which is about 1.5 too much for a player of Stepan's caliber. God I hope the cap goes up.
Not really
Jeff Carter, Partice Bergeron, Joe Pavelski, and John Tavares are in the same price range.
This time next year we will be paying Derek Stepan more than the Islanders are paying John Tavares through 2018.
I am okay with Stepan at $6m, but not Brassard at a penny over $4m. Am I crazy? lol
Okay, and McDonagh makes $4.7M. Contracts don't make sense.
Stepan is comparable to Bergeron and Pavelski.

Machinehead you have always hated Stepan. All he does for this team is finish first or second in scoring every year be one of most valuable PK guys, be on the ice in every critical situation, play on the PP, and gut out a broken jaw in the playoffs. You obviously don't understand NHL contacts so do us all a favor and don't comment on Stepan. If ROR is worth 6 million Stepan is worth more because he plays a bigger role on his team than ROR does. Not even close!!
Well McDonagh's contract is absolute foul robbery, but I concede that so is JT's, so fine, we'll toss him.
Stepan has had 35 goal, 70 point seasons?
