Medium. Too much smoke around a certain someone. But, I don't expect that someone to get what that team wants either.

Still hoping for Chychrun. He just makes sense in every way as a guy for us to target.

2 guaranteed years left of ROR. Forward depth out the whazoo right now. Could be a very tough out if we shore up the defense. I'm going with big move.

Nothing probably because the costs are too high and we have almost no cap room

Whatever trade for Chychrun that materializes would be a number of valuable pieces.

That would make it the most expensive trade that Army has ever made. I mean never say never, but pretty unlikely. Unless he sees some inordinately large amount of benefit, I don't see it to be like his modus operandi.

It would be the biggest trade most GMs have ever made. Guys like Chychrun are rarely available. It's not the most likely trade just because so many teams will be bidding, but I think we're the team that would benefit the most.

I think it is far from a sure thing that the Chychrun return will be any bigger than the ROR return. Everyone agrees that we won the ROR trade, but that was a 1st, a 2nd, a good prospect (Thompson), and two legitimate NHL centers. The Coyotes asking price is a 1st, good prospect and a young player. Even if they get what they are asking for, I'm not sold that the 'young player' will be more than a 2nd, Berglund and Sobotka. A 1st, Bolduc, and Perunovich meets that asking price and I would absolutely value that package less than what we gave up for ROR.

Army also gave up two 1sts to get Schenn (and shed Lehtera to make it possible). Not as much value, but it displays a willingness to move multiple 1st round caliber assets on a guy with term.

He gave up a 1st, a 3rd (that would have become a 1st if we got to the WCF or extended Miller), Stewart (immediately flipped for a 2nd), Halak (flipped for a budding Neuvirth), and recent 2nd round pick William Carrier. In terms of raw value, that is comparable to what Arizona is looking for. Had we extended Miller or had playoff success, it would have been more than what Arizona is looking for.

The Jay-Bo trade was clearly less value given up, but I include it because it is another example of Army using a 1st on a guy that he viewed as more than a rental.

I don't think Chychrun would be the most expensive trade of Army's time here if he makes it. I think Arizona is hoping they get that, but I don't think that bid is coming. I think the ultimate price will wind up being less than what we paid for ROR and less than what we would have paid for Miller if he fit and we extended him. I also think that it is Army's modus operandi to package multiple good-value (but no crazy valuable) assets to get a guy who will be on the team for several years.

Listening to the Last Minute Blues podcast today got me excited about the idea of adding Giroux and Chara.

Sounds like you’d be best served by not listening to that podcast

I’m guessing a “medium” move, but could see a big one depending on prices. I think the team has shown Army that they have earned him being a buyer so he will 100% do something (even if it’s only adding a depth piece or two).

Medium move. 5-6 Dman and maybe a depth forward/pker type for the Sundqvist role.

Big move. So many national analysts talking about how much of a buyers market it is because there are already too many sellers. Seems like just the type of situation that Army exploits.

I guess I am not seeing all of this talk around Chariot.

I think the Ducks hold on to Lindy, which leave Gio or Chy.

I would like to make the move with Arizona. But would be ok with Gio,

Who is Del Zato playing for?

He somehow finagled a two year deal out of the Sens. One of the most puzzling off-season moves. I mean I've heard he's the best locker room DJ and post game partier in the league but I'm still shocked.

Weren't the Sens trying to hit cap floor due to Brady not being signed yet?

Could be, I suppose. And probably not easy to convince many free agents to play in Canada, especially Ottawa, last off-season. Still, if I'm not mistaken he's getting 2x2 which is way more than he's worth.
