in order to benefit the Rangers the most. I think I have everything.

1) Tampa take it all. Will swap the 2nd, which at best would be 58th overall to 31st overall.

2) Stars come out of the Central and lose in the WCF, to make that 2nd either 28th or 29th overall.

3) For the winnipeg pick to move up the board. Tampa vs Carolina in the ECF and Stars vs Vegas or Colorado in the WCF. Picks 16-27 are the teams that lose in the first 2 rounds. Anyone who won their division go to the back of that range. Rest are based on points from 16-X and then the division winners arranged by points. This would make that Winnipeg pick 19th overall.

Who comes out of the Pacific doesn't matter, hopefully, Dallas somehow comes out of the central. If Tampa doesn't win it all thats pretty disgraceful

- Tampa winning the Cup
- Dallas making the WCF
- Both division winners in the west missing the WCF
- Carolina making the ECF
- Winnipeg out in the 1st or 2nd round
- Zuccarello signing with Dallas

That's my ideal summer

Getting 4 1st this year and having 2 again next year would be fantastic, and would shorten the rebuild by a year or two.

You should have heard the people who I ran into at the draft. My god, it was awful.
Well those are prob the super casual fans. Most people who follow the draft at least somewhat had heard of Krav, especially during his run in the KHL playoffs. Nils was less heard of but there was discussion on this board on him

As OP explained, if Colorado or Vegas comes out of the Pacific, it will move the Winnipeg pick up one spot. It might seem like little, but it might have an impact. Trading up four spots in that range last year cost a second round pick.

And winning the Cup is hard lol.

These were fans who attended the draft though. I expect them to know something at least.

Absolute best case scenario for us draft picks-wise:

Tampa vs. Carolina in the ECF
Dallas vs. Colorado or Vegas in the WCF

Tampa vs. Colorado or Vegas in the finals

Tampa wins the cup.

This would leave us with our own pick, Winnipeg's pick would be 19OA, Dallas' would be 28OA, and Tampa's would be 31OA.

*The Winnipeg pick can actually be one slot better if Columbus vs. Carolina is the ECF, but it would be at the expense of Tampa's first rounder.

So you're lucky, non-lottery numbers are 6, 19, 28, 31 and 37.

Plus Zucc's big playoff for the WCF Stars makes them re-sign him. And then they suck.

True enough, Zucc putting up godly numbers for three series', but Dallas losing in seven to Colorado or Vegas would be ideal.

Then, after Dallas signs him in the offseason and makes him captain, he leads them into a dank pit of a season while secretly wearing his Rangers jersey under all of that green each night.

I did the non-lottery lucky numbers, yours is the lottery lucky numbers.

Joking aside, I really have just blocked the concept of moving up out of my head.

I have too. It's kind of easy, since I'm only just catching up on prospects lately and Hughes-Kakko are old news.

Curious: why are you hoping that Podkolzin isn't on the table for us? You don't think we'd consider him anyway and it would just be nice to have him out of the way, or are you a bit leery of his game?

Tampa has trouble with teams that are really physical - Caps and Jackets will be trouble for them. Not saying they won't win, but those two teams, in particular, won't make it easy for TB.
