I have too. It's kind of easy, since I'm only just catching up on prospects lately and Hughes-Kakko are old news.

Curious: why are you hoping that Podkolzin isn't on the table for us? You don't think we'd consider him anyway and it would just be nice to have him out of the way, or are you a bit leery of his game?

A little bit of both.

I think his talent level is right up there with anyone in this draft. If it was based solely on that, I think he's right there in that conversation with Hughes and Kakko, or just outside of it. But the results, the in-game application, just hasn't matched the talent level for me. I've seen flashed of it, and when he's on, it's downright scary. But it just hasn't been there as often as it should be. If it was one league, and I could look at the context, it's easier to look past. But it's three different leagues and the Under-20 games. Ultimately, it's just enough to concern me --- especially when I look at some of the other options out there.

While I don't think the Rangers would necessarily zero in on him at their top target, I think it becomes a possibility if he slides a little. Even with my concerns, the difference between picking third and picking eighth is noteworthy. Additionally, I could see where the Rangers would be one of those teams for whom the timetable, or the prospect of getting Podkolzin to come over would not be a major concern.

It's not that I don't like Podkolzin, he's arguably got the highest reward of any option outside the top two picks. I just don't know if the likelihood of that reward is worth the risk over what I consider to already be a high-skill, high-ceiling group of forwards.

*The Winnipeg pick can actually be one slot better if Columbus vs. Carolina is the ECF, but it would be at the expense of Tampa's first rounder.

This just triggered a though in my head for this board.

Would you rather have Winnipeg's pick be 18th, at the cost of Tampa's being 58th,

Or would you rather have Winnipeg's pick be 22-28, with Tampa's pick at 31st?

So to make it easier, let's say 18 and 58, or 25 and 31?

Very close for me.

I think I'd lean 18 and 58, but it's certainly not cut and dry.

18th to 25th is a considerable gap, but...

With the first rounders we've targeted lately, I would trust Gorton to make an appropriate move from 25th if there's a guy that they want in the late teens early 20s. And that makes the 25th and 31st combo look solid.

I go back and forth.

31 to 58 is a hell of a drop, but if you're in that 18 spot, in theory a second might get you into that 14-15 range if need be.

If I have to watch another Boston sports team win a championship I’ll hurl thirty one off his roof
Same.

Boston and their fans really annoyed me during and after their last game against us. Hoping for Toronto over them.

Just get me a Blues win in the first round and Zucc to play really well. Dallas is gonna have to find the back of the net. I think their defense and goaltending is pretty decent if healthy. Of course Tampa winning it all would be a good thing as well.

I'm already on the Dallas bandwagon. I refuse to auction off a divided loyalty; the fine people of HF deserve better.
Lets go Dallas and Zuke. If i didn't find it weird and excessive I would have bought a stars shirt for the playoffs

TB wins the Cup. Dallas reaches the WCF.

I`ve watched some playoffs reviews so it should be interesting. And Dallas reach WCF while Tampa win the cup is a homerun for Jeff G. I believe in Dallas in a 7th round win though. However I admit it will be difficult vs a deep Nashville especially their defense, and they need some good bounces to get past Nashville.

Who comes out of the Pacific doesn't matter, hopefully, Dallas somehow comes out of the central. If Tampa doesn't win it all thats pretty disgraceful
Yes it does. Whoever comes out of Pacific will pick at best 28th. If Winnipeg loses in first 2 rounds and if Calgary and San Jose lose in the first 2 rounds, they pick behind Winnipeg. Vegas and Colorado would pick ahead of Winnipeg, thus pushing Winnipeg's spot back a place or 2.

Tampa has trouble with teams that are really physical - Caps and Jackets will be trouble for them. Not saying they won't win, but those two teams, in particular, won't make it easy for TB.
In 3 games this year, they outscored the Jackets 17-3.

Tough to say, and it depends where in the 22-28 range. 22-23? I'll take that and 31. 26-28? I think I'd rather have 18 and 58. 24 or 25? Not sure.
