Please don't lock it. Whether we get an arena and team back some day or not, this forum should always stay open for Coyotes fans.
I don't really intend to, at least not right away. But eventually Coyotes fans will atrophy and fall away. What I don't want to see is this board only occupied by a handful of people yelling about east side west side arguements from 20 years ago

Somebody should have told that to rappers in the 90s 😉

Its not your team and never will be

I'm trying, but you're probably right. I lost interest in the Red Wings after moving away from MI in '94 because they weren't local anymore (and we all know how good that team was.) The home town pride is a big part of it for me. Winning just isn't going to feel as good. I might end up fading away, not sure what will happen yet.

They announced the Sergachev trade this morning, and I just felt anger. It should be Arizona acquiring these players, not Utah.

I'm excited for the team and players. But it seems... Off. Idk. Time will tell.

I'm going to go back to following and rooting for the Sabres more again. It's a seamless transition there.

Things feel weird now. Hockey feels different. I love this game so much. But I need time to heal from everything that's happened.

Same. I guess mostly because I keep hoping (stupidly) to see a scrap of news that gives us hope for the future. I had to unfollow/block all the sources I used to check on Twitter because I loathe seeing anything that has to do with Utah, a reminder I don't need or want. This was the first time I didn't watch any playoff hockey or the draft in decades. Hopefully indifference will set in soon.

You know, the Sergachev and Marino trades actually helped me move on a bit from the team. The more new faces they get, the less I'll relate to them as my "home team." And I really liked Geekie, so seeing him move on also helps.

Josh Doan is the only thing really keeping me tethered to the Utah team at this point.

Yeah. It was a similar reaction for me. Like, seeing two players I cared about and was excited to see develop gone so fast definitely made me step back a bit. Just don't have a pull to any particular team is the issue for now. And as much as I love watching hockey, it's hard to get into it without having the lens of a team.

As a rather huge proponent of BA rebuilding the way I think it should be done, the Sergachev trade makes me nervous. It smells a bit like Chayka prematurely ending the previous rebuild at the behest of Barroway. While Barroway did it as a pump and dump strategy, this time it feels like Smith making "suggestions". Granted Sergachev could really shine as the guy and perhaps Geekie tops out a 3C but still I prefer to have the players you draft force you out of a rebuild. The only saving grace is now that the Coyotes are in Utah, I'm less invested. My desire to see them succeed and my desire to see them fail miserably kind of depends on the day. Guess that means I'm still processing.

I’m still invested. In their downfall. I’m fully hoping sergachev flames out horribly there and geekie pops off in Tampa.

Moser will pop off in Tampa and people will rightfully shit on Utah if Sergachev becomes a worse, more expensive (potentially even double the cost) version of Moser/Durzi. Not really sure how to feel about the team since I still hate Smith/Meruelo/Bettman/NHL(PA) for taking our team away but I definitely don't like BA making that trade regardless.

Smith and his wife on stage at the draft was so cringe. I don't know much about him but he was definitely putting out serious douche bro vibes that day.

I cant be mad at Smith, he is the owner we all wanted to have, not the one we ended up having
What makes him so great? He seems like a typical cocky tech douche who is trying to siphon a ton of money from a municipality.

Big reason I've followed VGK since the Barroway years is because of their owner Bill Foley. Very admirable guy and rock solid arena/location.

Smith has been a walking cringefest

You (as well as I and a bunch of us) are hurt over the loss of our team. Realistically speaking, Smith has done everything right by the players and hockey operations staff.
Uh...ok? So anyway as I was saying, he and his wife on stage at the draft was so cringe and he definitely gives off douche bro vibes.

He is an owner and yes we all wanted an owner.

I haven't seen enough of their owner to have an opinion. I simply don't care about Utah. I'm sure I'll get to that point about our former team and I'm almost there with the NHL already. I'll find no pleasure or anger if Utah's owner fails or succeeds.

I'm basing my comment on nothing more than the draft appearance, that's it. It was more an observation not necessarily an opinion. It's a first impression but I don't have near enough data for an informed opinion on the dude.

Now with more snark
Smith is a billionaire and probably an assjole, but he understood that the fan experience and the players' experience mattered. Is he creepy? I don't know is Ishbia normal? Smith has the political connections to make things happen, the discretion to work with the NHL system and seems to be writing checks and taking good care of the players.

My standards are low, but having an owner who is looking to do more than a fix-and-flip is a dream owner, in my opinion.

Smith has religious connections and in SLC that's far more powerful than political connections. Time will tell if he ends up a good owner or not.
