Speculation: What teams need to move cap before the start of the season

I believe the Pens are saved because of Pascal Dupuis--but how about the wings? Obviously a few teams would like be further away from the cap then they are due to the fact many have rookies that have bonuses built in

what teams could be looking to shed a contract between now and the start of the season?

Right the would've to agree to get dealt, Maybe something involving Bishop going to Dallas and maybe Niemi coming to Tampa with a retention or something like that and maybe a deal sending Filppula to Nashville those are the kind of deals that could possibly happen.

7.5 mil+cap bonus from LTIR. Seeing as it doesn't look like Anaheim and Lindholm are close to a deal at the moment, there isn't anything pressing them to move out cap ASAP.

And then Nashville would have to protect Filppula in the expansion draft. Unless they can get him to agree to waive his NMC again, to go to the worst team in the league for no benefit to himself whatsoever.

Not sure that it's any more then what the Leafs are planning on putting on LTIR looked like the Leafs were planning on putting over close to $13 million on LTIR between Lupul Horton and Robidas.

Maybe Kronwall wont go on LTIR, But it sounds like he might not be ready for the start of the season. He's skating pretty lightly right now.

Depending on the Cowen arbitration case Leafs are putting nothing on LTIR, they'll be under the cap without it. If Cowen wins, they'll put Horton on LTIR. Lupul and Robidas will just be on regular old IR which has no effect on the salary cap but frees up a roster spot. They will have a crap ton of salary that isn't playing for them though.

There's no point to doing anything in advance. Either the team needs to exercise the LTIR Exception or they don't.
