Apparently I never get Gadreaus name right no matter what. I just refer to him as johnny hockey now.
Wow, I've been doing this too and only noticed when I ready your post hahaha.
Mark Pysyk. I thought it was pronounced like "psych" but instead it's the noise you make when you try to scare a cat or when you have a secret for someone
I also used to say Nyquist with a "v" in the middle instead of a "U" like Lundqvist.
Yes. Imagine calling Milan Lucic "Milan Lou-kick"
Maybe Joe Sakic's family changed the pronunciation when they came to Canada but it should definitely be sak-ich
ive been calling him Joo-nis Donskoi.... but I heard announcers calling him Yo-nis Donskoi..... whats with the extra "o"?..... Cmon Donskoi parents and keep it simple
I always liked the way RDS said "Koh-fah-leff".
Oh god. That's just horrible. And they think they're saying it right too. I remember one time them talking about it, and saying that's the correct pronunciation.
What makes it so awful is that they're supposed to be professionals, and they can't figure out after several years that they are absolutely butchering this guy's name in such a way.
Guy Hebert
I pronounced it how it is spelled
Guy Hebert said:And just what is the story on his name anyway?
"My mom calls me Guy," Hebert said, saying his name with an English pronunciation.
"My father calls me Guy," Hebert continued, making his name sound French.
Paul Hebert, an avid hockey fan, noticed the name, "Guy," in a copy of the Hockey News one day while Carole Hebert was pregnant with their second son.
Guy Hebert (say it: Ghee Ay-bear) sounded like a good hockey name back in January 1967. It sounds just as good in 1999, especially to the Ducks.
TEW-voh is correct."Teravainen Teuvo (tehr-a-VIGH-nuhn, TEW-voh)"
Hmm... I swear I've heard Teuvo himself pronounce his first name as "Tay-voh"
Some broadcasters say Soderberg differently. Some say SAWderberg and some say SOderberg.
No it would be pronounced Favre.
Jimmy Vesey.....
Have always said Vess-See, but its pronounced Vee-See
Still sounds weird saying Vee-see so I still say Vess-see
