how does this not have a thread dedicated to that horrible take by these 2, esp. MM, and Keefe and AM to a lesser extent. Unforgivable. Mm is such a whiney baby and a liar- in what world are his comments acceptable? Keefe too.
Are you talking about what Fox said? Or what Marner actually said?

When you watch everything he said it wasn't quite as bad. He took accountability and said they have to be better.

Marner and Keefe are the two guys that never bring anything in big moments.

Tavares has flaws but he's someone who isn't afraid of big moments, Reilly, Matthews and Nylander all have their moments in elimination games.

Marner just gets worse the higher the pressure, same with Keefe and his fire drill line matching.

Marner hattrick "Puck over the board, cry in the box, passivly agressive attack media and fans" .
Just kidding . But he should not talk to media at all. 1st He is bad at it. 2nd Even the times he is ok, fans and media will twist it to be bad. Media silence the dude. Thats whats best for him and the team. Let the mascot talk in his favor.

At minimal I think everyone on here just wants to see their hometown team be successful.

It's not the fans fault the Leafs are massively underachieving. If this place has turned into a cesspool there's a very good reason for it. The team is letting everyone down.

The result is a backlash never witnessed by this core before.

That's what being a mediocre team with overpaid elite talent gets you. A disgruntled fan base begging for change. Running it back so many times has accomplished nothing except to piss off the hard working fans who financially support this organization and it's athletes.

The team is 21-21.

They just blew four games in a row they held a lead in. The lack of urgency in the players and coach has become untenable for the greatest fan base in the world desperate to see their hometown team be successful. If that makes this place a cesspool then blame the team.

Don't blame the fans who just want to see them succeed.

if I made a thread about what Marner and Keefe said after the Oilers game I would include clips or quotes of what Marner and Keefe said after the Oilers game

^^

I have to say, even as someone who could be easily mistaken for Marner objector, the opening post is weak.

the oilers GDT was full of hope they lose posts

Short term pain for long term gain.

This cap structure doesn’t work. Many of us knew it wouldn’t, but the team has proven it well beyond a reasonable doubt. Change is needed, and if losing a few games now will force that change, it’s a good thing.

Even the people who want the team to lose now only want that so they can win in the future.

I don't think they have proven it well beyond a reasonable doubt though I don't have much faith in this version of the new Leafs. anyway

I don't think we should be surprised.
Marner has been this way since he arrived here. No accountability and out of touch with reality. Same "we believe in this team" attitude for 10 years, with no real results. No frustration, no willingness to change.

With regards to Keefe? He spoke like an employee that's about to lose their job. Grasping at straws and throwing questions back towards the media. There's more issues with this team than the last 8 days like he said. They're 25th in the league in regulation wins. It's not a well constructed team. The bottom 6 is abysmal and the defense is even worse.

Agreed, but there's not much change can happen.
Matthews, Nylander, Rielly are all locked up.

Tavares has another year and will likely be re-signed to a (hopefully) much cheaper contract.

Paul and Mitch Marner will demand more than Nylander and get it. Nothing will change, it can't.

Marner’s gotta go. I’m was him or Nylander, and they just locked up Willy.

I’ve been saying it for years - you can’t commit this much cap space to two RWs, even if they are individually worth it.

I think it’s only because they want to say “I was right” lol

At the end of the day this is on management more than anyone.

They believed in Shanahan, they believed in Dubas, they believed in Keefe, they still believe in this core.

Honestly as fans we just have to temper our expectations at this point, expect no changes and the continued failure.

It just is what it is, management is happy pulling in the young fans with Marner/Willie/Matthews being marketable to them, so that's clearly what matters. In all likelihood we have another decade of futility to look forward to.
