Would vote SAH but would go PMD if the option was for a dman that can shoot well. Our defense sucks at scoring.

That’s what Clarke is for. Problem is, guys like Regehr don’t really exist anymore.

I think Soucy is the move. Maybe something like Walker + JAD?

Anderson - Doughty
Soucy - Clarke/Spence
Durzi - Roy

Romanov but he’s in Philly for now

That's what this thread is asking, though: who IS this guy in the modern NHL? Name some names and we can talk! Otherwise it's all just chasing unicorns.
Not many out there anymore :(

In terms of LHD I'd say: Brendan Dillion, Mark Borowiecki, Jamie Oleksiak, Nikita Zadorov, Ben Chiarot, and Brayden McNabb?

What about Brenden Dillon? He may not be the “age” we want but he’s the closest to a Regehr that might be gettable. Will Walker/Andersson get it done?

You need to develop a tough LD who is able to make a good first pass and skate; otherwise you will inevitably overpay for them nowadays. You need either offense or size to stand out and get drafted nowadays, and it's tougher to develop NHL-level skills when you're 6'4" or taller (or so it seems based on how many of those guys don't make it).

I dunno, I just want my damned unicorn.

Time passes, and you forget just how damned important Big Rig & Mitchell were to those runs.

What royal pricks they were to play against.

This has been my target for awhile.. I’d rather move whoever we’d lose through waivers for him.. JAD+

Liked the Edmundson comment right off the hop. Was hurt last year and Montreal is a mess and neat the cap. We have surplus prospects and Walker to help with the financial burden.

Jacob Slavin would be the player Id want. He’s a bit older at 28 but he fills the boxes for me.

Man, I forgot about RR leveling Reaves - he had to skate to the bench.

Regehr was a beast in juniors. We got him at the tail end of his career, but man he was mean.

And this is a guy who broke both legs in a car accident and it was questionable if he'd even play again. Wild man.

Between that and Greene getting hit by a jeep and playing that same night, you can't question those guys.

Sergachev, Cernak, Romanov.

Basically a unicorn at this point.

I think he’s got a necklace of ears in his hunting cabin somewhere up in Canada.

Cernak maybe. Romanov hits but he's more Sergei Emelin than Regehr so far. No one is scared of Sergachev.

That being said Romanov on our 2nd pairing would be a phenomenal get.

We have 2 LD that don't score already. Don't need another. LD that put up 30 points last year is a list about 30 long with 3 to 4 realistically available.

Also has to be significantly better than playing Roy on his off side to justify trading for them.
