What jersey numbers do you think are just REAL UGLY numbers?

3, 7, 9, 14, 16, 20, 22, 23, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 69, 70, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 78, 80, 82, 83, 84, 90, 92, 93, 94, 95, 98, 99

all of these numbers are objectively hideous

9 is one of the best numbers in all of sports.
 
I don't think there's any ugly numbers. They are just numbers... The only time they are ugly is when they are used on the 'wrong' position. It would be weird to see a goalie with #9 or a forward with #1 or #30.

I do however, think it's incredibly boring with all these new kids coming in, constantly wanting their birthyear on their back. Real lack of imagination. Don't kids grow up with lucky or favourite numbers anymore?
 
...guys...the season started weeks ago, why is this borderline offseason thread alive?
 
All I wanted from this season is McDavid and Kessel/Crosby tearing it up. Didn't get it so might aswell discuss about things that really matter.
 
As a Red Sox fan, 3 is the obvious choice. Never really liked 36 either but didn't realize that until Zac Rinaldo wore it here.

Find it boring when guys whose number is really in the teens but they get to a new team and just flip the number, 21, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91 specifically. Don't mind 31 since that number hardly ever applies since it's usually a goalie.
 
Well my OCD makes me hate anything with a 2 in it. Anything over 29 with a few exceptions (55, 77, 88, 91, 81, 44). My favourite number (One I played with growing up in AA hockey) is 17.
 
41 because it is always off center.

I dislike the higher numbers ending in 0 or 1. 70, 90, 61, 71, etc. Not sure I can give a compelling reason as to why but it is what it is.
 
Don't like the number 7 by itself for some reason.

I've always hated high numbers on non-star players, especially double-digit high numbers (55, 66, 77, 88, 99) It's not a badge of honor. 77 is for Coffey and Bourque, not Chris Gratton and Ryan Parent. 88 is Lindros and Kane, not Cory Conacher and Peter Muller.

I love the 'weird' numbers and I typically hate low numbers. 3, 10, & 23 are the ugliest numbers out there to me. 59 is my favorite. The only standard goalie number I can tolerate is #32, thanks to Arturs Irbe, though I guess you could make a convincing argument that 29 has become a standard goalie number now.
 
I was just watching the Islanders the other night and thinking, they have to get a handle on their jersey numbers.

They have so many that it actually makes them visually look worse as a team. You get all these guys on the ice moving fast and it's just a blur of digits all over the place.
 
See, to me Pens-Isles games are gorgeous (namely if the Pens are home in their alts) because of how many 'weird' jersey numbers are on both teams.


Mind you I was the kid whose top two jersey wants were Aleksey Morozov and Martin Straka.


Seeing a guy in a white jersey wearing #3 is just so damn boring...it speaks to how much I love Olli Määttä that I actually have his jersey (mind you the black alternate version since something had to be aesthetically pleasing about it) :laugh:
