What is your most unpopular Rangers opinion?

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Not sure how unpopular these actually are:
- retiring #s is stupid. Honor them for sure, but keep all the #s in circulation
- we got enough goals for support in the Torts and AV years (except AVs last)
- the way Torts was fired was poor, and the playing group never coped enough flak/scrutiny for what appeared to basically be a stab in the back
- Shesterkin will be a good starter, but never a top 5 goalie in any season

The Rangers horribly mishandled Staal's concussion in 2011 and feel a sense of responsibility towards him because of it, which is a contributing factor to why the organization hasn't (and probably won't) buy him out.

Didn't he not tell them about his symptoms?

While I do think he has the best rebound control and puck movement of the three current goalies, I haven't seen anything from Shersterkin (in the NHL games he's played) that makes me go "OMFG! This kid is going to be incredible!"

for some of us who weren't around/alive/conscious for 1994 this organization is a rotten shit heap of losers and will be until they win another one.

they literally and figuratively sold their souls for that cup and all we got was the decades of incompetence that followed. I don't even acknowledge 1994 much because it means nothing to me.

All we go twas incompetence? They had a very solid run in the window that just closed. Not winning a cup isn't incompetence. They were a very good and competitive team for a few years: conference finals, president's trophy, cup finals.

Okay, 4 good years (2 great) in a sea of ~20 while having the best goaltender of this generation and having practically unlimited budget in the cap and no-cap era. I stand corrected.

I'm not a championship or bust person. I can enjoy sports for what they are. The Rangers as an organization has created very few lasting memories for me and most of them are concentrated in a four year window. I expect more.

You can make this determination of a goalie after 3 games? You should be a scout.

The Cup was great, but living through 1998-2004 makes nearly anything else seem fine in comparison.

The Rangers had every right to trade Brian Leetch, despite his desire to stay. It was the right move for the franchise at the time.

Had Immonen, Kondratiev and Korpikoski turned out to be cornerstones, peoples opinions of that whole ordeal would be a lot different.

I want to see what the NHL would look like in a permanent 4 on 4. Which players would do better, worse, lineup formations , leaguewide offensive output, ect.

I also think penalties should always last the full two minutes.

Yeah it's not about cup or bust. It's about the Rangers aren't fun.

I've spent nearly my entire adulthood watching them play bend-but-don't-break hockey where the other team dictates play most nights. And the organization evidently doesn't see this as an issue.

Every time I watch the rangers I have fun. If you don't Enjoy the entertainment then why watch?

Unpopular: Dancing Larry and “Potvin sucks” have place and should continue to be a part of The Garden.

Unsure: if a team is awarded a penalty shot and doesn’t score - the team gets to have a 2 min PP afterwards.

Yeah, I'm always puzzled when the Rangers get mentioned as some model organization by the media.

I also thought people were generally ok with the trade, just not the way it went down?
