Habs will be surprise buyers on someone with team control or a UFA who comes with an agreed extension

They need a 2C going into next season and have amongst the most draft pick/prospect capital of any team

My guess is because he just got there after being held back a bit in Edmonton and is one arb away from a deal that will walk him to ufa.

The skater probably wants opportunity that perhaps wasn’t anvailable when you’re developing behind McDavid, draisaitl, and rnh, and will use his contract status to get it. Buffalo certainly could give it, but…

Given the state of the rental market, a 25 year old center who wants a top 6 role and has no contract next season would take home the top prize of the deadline - not priced as a rental, but a bidding war instead;, the Sabres would be able to get so many teams interested they’d probably get one outlandish offer. It is way easier to see happening than them trading some young guy who has a 7 year contract, but that guy gets an article a week about his trade worthiness. I’m picking the guy who doesn’t have a deal next year, who just got there and didn’t extend.

Can’t convince me Detroit wouldn’t be pleased with a deal here after copp’s injury. Or Anahiem. Or Minnesota. Maybe St. Louis I’m just biased to my team but we don’t have the right asset to send back tbh.
He’d be a nice fit on the Jets 2nd line with Ehlers and Perfetti.

Kunin for a 4th round pick to the CBJ.

Not trying to be funny, but I'm genuinely surprised. At the start of the season, I would have bet money that the CBJ would be sellers at the deadline—I fully expected them to be a lottery team. Not only did they just add a depth piece, but they also kept the same lineup without taking anyone out, including holding onto Provorov, who’s set to become a UFA at the end of the season.

This is even more surprising considering Boone Jenner and Erik Gudbranson have been out nearly all season (with Jenner just returning after the 4 Nations), Monahan has been sidelined since January 9th, and Chinakhov was out since November 27th before returning just three games ago. On top of that, the team has dealt with inconsistent goaltending from both Elvis Merzļikins and Daniil Tarasov.

I highly doubt Zacha goes anywhere unless its a gross over payment. I also doubt we go rebuild.

Bruins will tweak and flush, nothing more. The fact the Bruins are 2 games over 500 with this current roster shows how bad the league is.

Lots of crappy teams. No thanks to a rebuild
So about that
