No way Lundell is traded, he's part of the core and locked up for years. Plus, if Bennett leaves, he moves up to 2C and is already showing himself more than capable of handling that.Dobson - to Florida
I think Florida desperately needs a PP defenseman. They should also like that Dobson will be an RFA this summer. With the lower taxes in Florida they should be able to re-sign him to a team friendly deal at around $7.5-$8 million cap hit.
As for the return, it’s hard to say for I do think NYI should like something like Lundell plus…they love big two-way forwards…and he still has upside
I mean, yeah. Both Dobson and the NYI PP have been awful this year. Whether you choose to believe Dobson has been playing great and his low PP production has been because of his teammates despite his being great, or you choose to believe that a large part of the reason the Isles PP has been as awful as it has been is in large part because Dobson has failed to quarterback effectively … there’s a debate to be had. But I don’t think any team is voraciously chasing a 7-PPP player right now because of how much of an undeniable unseater he would be for their own 9-PPP QB....you think Ekblad plays PP1 over Dobson??...or did I miss something??...![]()
From the article you linked, you may have missed it:Apparently you've missed the past 8 playoffs whereby the Leafs, with Marner as a key player, have exactly 1 series victory. Also you seemed to have missed that the Leafs hired a new GM last season who is changing the style of the play (and player) to build around. Also you missed that the Leafs got a new coach this season and is changing the way the team plays. And finally, you have missed this:
It's as simple as the Leafs wanting to try something different to see if it works and if Rantanen isn't signing an extension in Carolina perhaps the Canes wish to see if Marner would.
Respectfully, you didn't mention the trade deadline and it fits perfectly for what you are talking about.True but that also happened to far from the deadline to qualify for what I'm talking about

You just asked what this year's biggest surprising trade is, it is Rantanen.
Most rentals arent really big or surprising trades but Rantanen was as it was unexpected, came out of nowhere and the news never leaked that he was available.
I think Anaheim makes a bold 'we want to be competitive now' move for their roster.
They can still make the playoffs this year and they have a lot of young pieces to dangle.
Do we think this would make them more or less likely to keep Jake Evans? Feel like Savard and Armia are probably goners at this pointWith Dach out and likely done with Montreal for good, I think the Habs are primed for a big move
They should keep Evans regardless imo but yeah I think they sell hard now and stock up to make a big moveDo we think this would make them more or less likely to keep Jake Evans? Feel like Savard and Armia are probably goners at this point
Ah yes, Crosby’s hometown team.If it's Destiny then it would be Crosby to Montreal.
Ah yes, Crosby’s hometown team.
If we ignore the fact that Montreal is a 12 hour drive away from Cole Harbour.
He is worth it, just for the nut shots on Tkachuk in the 2nd round alone lolI legitimately don't know how I'd feel about that, that would be a weird sight.
