I think Florida desperately needs a PP defenseman. They should also like that Dobson will be an RFA this summer. With the lower taxes in Florida they should be able to re-sign him to a team friendly deal at around $7.5-$8 million cap hit.

As for the return, it’s hard to say for I do think NYI should like something like Lundell plus…they love big two-way forwards…and he still has upside

No way Lundell is traded, he's part of the core and locked up for years. Plus, if Bennett leaves, he moves up to 2C and is already showing himself more than capable of handling that.

I mean, yeah. Both Dobson and the NYI PP have been awful this year. Whether you choose to believe Dobson has been playing great and his low PP production has been because of his teammates despite his being great, or you choose to believe that a large part of the reason the Isles PP has been as awful as it has been is in large part because Dobson has failed to quarterback effectively … there’s a debate to be had. But I don’t think any team is voraciously chasing a 7-PPP player right now because of how much of an undeniable unseater he would be for their own 9-PPP QB.

Also you seemed to have missed that the Leafs hired a new GM last season who is changing the style of the play (and player) to build around. Also you missed that the Leafs got a new coach this season and is changing the way the team plays. And finally, you have missed this:

It's as simple as the Leafs wanting to try something different to see if it works and if Rantanen isn't signing an extension in Carolina perhaps the Canes wish to see if Marner would.

I think Anaheim makes a bold 'we want to be competitive now' move for their roster.

They can still make the playoffs this year and they have a lot of young pieces to dangle.

If they don't make a major move before the deadline, I expect one ahead of next year. Verbeek heading into season four of what he called a five year build, is going to want to take that step forward into relevance next year. As it stands, they are suddenly just six points back of Vancouver, with a game in hand and two more head to head matchups.

Surely they won't be paying big for impending UFA rentals without an extension in place though, will be looking at guys with at least one year of term remaining.

It was pointed out on the Ducks board that they are actually tracking to be the worst faceoff team ever (since the stat was recorded) at under 44%. Just replacing some lineup filler with guys who can win faceoffs could be a huge immediate boost.
