Dubas and Keefe shouldn't have caved to the media complaining about lack of balance in the lineup. We'd be better off going all-in on speed and an aggressive tempo instead of putting guys like Simmonds in to make the talking heads happy.

This was supposed to be a team that comes at you in waves nonstop and plays to make a 3-2 lead into a 5-2 lead. Instead we're a half assed speed team with half assed physicality that turtles to hold a 1 goal lead for 10 minutes and lets their opponent dictate the pace of the game.

We should have been looking for guys like Lehkonen and Nichushkin over Ritchie and Foligno.

I'm not sure Dubas ever knew what he was doing. I see no proof of that. He gambles and reacts but he is never driving. Wow and they just got worse at the end of the build.

I'd imagine it's somehow the fans and media's fault. We were all begging the Leafs to add Malgin, Holl, Murray, Vesey, Lehtonen, Mrazek and the rest of the soft, vanilla, blink and you'll miss me players to our lineup.

It has to be the goalies, the refs and the league conspiring against us. :tinker:
The goalie blames the defence, the defence blame the forwards, the forwards blame the refs, and the refs blame the league.

Plus, my wife has loads of Tinkerbell stuff

I didn't know that there was a Leaf's curse, but maybe it's that they've won 13 Stanley cups and that's a bad luck number.

Itā€™s not a curse, itā€™s just that the core doesnā€™t have a ton of heart and they have e 3 forwards at 11m+.

No team has ever won the cup with anyone making over 9.5 AAV. Toronto has 3 forwards who do so they can not fill out their roster with the depth and grit it takes to win

I dont think there is a curse, I just think you guys are missing one heart and soul player.

A winner,

like Kadri.

Idk if its been mentioned already but i have heard 2 different versions of Leaf Curses. Now my memory isn't the greatest, so anyone can correct me if I missed details or am just flat out wrong lol.

1. The Curse of Ballard

Everyone knows this, but apparently Conne Smythe did not want to sell the team to him. So Ballard joined a group, with Smythes son in it, and they bought the team. Only for Ballard to eventually take control in a shady way. The curse essentially comes from he took over the team over its original bloodline and his money before success attitude. I believe he even said once, that it didnt matter if the team was good because the team would still sell out anyway.

Now the team did win in 67 when Smythe was technically not the owner anymore, but he was in attendance for the last cup win.

2. The Curse of Gordon Stuckless: Maple Leaf Gardens Sex Scandal

The former Equipment manager at Maple Leaf gardens who was found guilty for sexual misconduct with 24 minors, in over 100 offences, from 1969 until 1988. Known as the "Maple Leaf Gardens sex scandal", it also included an usher who worked at MLG for 25 years, and the former Toronto Marlboros equipment manager, among others. It was also alleged that many of the staff knew about it going on in the arena, as they would bring the young children into the arena with promises of meeting their idols, concert tickets, etc and then sexually abuse them in empty offices. "Det. Dave Tredrea of the Metropolitan Toronto Police said the abuse was "common knowledge among the staff."

Edit: I finally read threw the topic and saw both were mentioned. Very disturbing after I read more about the 2nd one.
