Would the Ducks entertain a swap of Gibson and a pick/prospect for Swayman? Bruins get a solid replacement starter and an asset to help their weak prospect pool, Ducks get a younger goalie to build with.
Would have to be a crazy + for Bruins to consider. Mctavish or really good picks.

Gibson and Korpi would be a wild goalie tandem. "The Kap Dump Kids"? "Buyers Remorse Bros"? "Overpaid OGs"?

I'm with you. Just look at Askarov. The guy is the most hyped goalie prospect in years. But he had only a few teams bidding, and landed just a conditional 1st rounder.

Swayman is worth more, no question. I'm not comparing value. Swayman is a proven star starter. But the Askarov situation does show the market. Not many teams are willing to dump a ton of assets for the goaltending position. That would include the cap commitment.
The only condition was which 1st round pick it will be.

They also received another recent 1st rounder who has been developing just fine

I am surprised as a Bs fan you'd be okay with that return! Gibson is himself a negative asset at this point, so unless that prospect was one of their 1st rounders from the last four years I can't see the Bruins even considering it.

Boston would be crazy to trade him. His value is really high IMO
The problem is that very very few players can boast just about any contract and still have high value.

Swayman has also proven very little as a whole, he has never even played a full season and goalies being voodoo, would it really surprise anyone if he went to a bad team and was awful? No because he has played less than 150 games in his NHL career and only played for great teams so we don't have much to go on.

He without the consideration of the contract has great value, but if he's going to demand 10+ million, his value gets diminished considering his lack of credentials.

Swayman at an industry standard contract has great value. Him with a mystery box giant contract is way less value. Which is why a trade won’t happen. One or both sides will have to give in. With his agent, it might not be until 12/1, but hopefully not.

Just to move Gibson, Anaheim is adding at least a 1st as multiple years of beloew league average doesn't scream "bouncing back" to anyone but the seller.
There is >99% chance this doesn't happen but A) Gibson would absolutely bounce back to at least "good" on a team that isn't the worst defensive team in the league for multiple years and B) goalies almost always go for less than expected.

If for some reason Swayman and the Bruins don't figure this out, Bs fans will probably be disappointed for the return on his trade

Trading Swayman would be the death blow to Boston that's the one they can't come back from.

You can't have Korpi as your #1 goalie that wouldn't work.

Look not trying to start a firestorm but what about if he became available and trading him to the CBJ?? CBJ has the cap-space and obviously a need.

‘26 1st Top 5 protected, Tarasov and ‘25 St Louis 4th

I said it in another thread jokingly, trade him to the Rangers for Igor. It may not be too far-fetched because both goalies seem to want to gameplay with negotiations.

Don Sweeney: Hell no !!!!! Wait a minute - did you say you were willing to add a 2025 4th round pick from St. Louis ???? Well that changes everything. :sarcasm:

Jeremy $$$$$wayman - 5 star goaltender, not much trade value for someone who will take a big chunk of another team's cap.

It seems like Boston is being punished for only leaving a certain amount of cap space and giving themselves leverage. What if Boston makes a separate trade to clear cap space for Swayman, then they sign him for 8.8-8.9?

They just have to stop having 14 forwards on the roster to do that. But seems like they are gonna want some roster flexibility because Lysell and to a lesser degree Poitras aren’t established, so they might want an extra vet like Tyler Johnson around.

John Gibson, only goalie in history to play for a bad team apparently.
