You probably wouldn’t be missing Thompson right now......if only Nick Cousins had hands..Hill is now just a guy who loses his net, and FL then goes on and “steals” game 1 on the road.
Hill doesn’t start game 2 if Nick Cousins buries that puck (and they don’t let Stone pull a puck down from the rafters before ripping it past Bob

This is the problem. Vegas has always been cut-throat about player movement. And for the most part it's served them well. But I feel like they made a big mistake letting these 3 go. They were the ones who defined the Vegas attitude. There's just no plucky depth on that roster anymore.
Yes, happens to just about everybody, excluding Washington this year. Vegas will go on a heater again at some point, unfortunately.

Losing depth is natural. Based on the season those guys are having on their current deals, I don't think Vegas regrets those decisions from a cap construction standpoint.
They just need more out of their goaltenders, but neither of their goaltenders is very good. Which is why I'm very surprised you cited those 3 Forwards instead of the actual mistake that they made, which was choosing Adin Hill over Logan Thompson. Vegas is likely running away with the President's Trophy with Thompson, and Washington is likely in the wildcard mix with all those other teams if they had signed Hill accordingly.

They lost 7 roster players last summer. They're a very different group now and aren't near as good as they were last year.

It's just the reality of an 82-game schedule. Every team slumps at some point.
Vegas is just the last team to hit a slump. Just like last year.
Edmonton slumped at the start, Vancouver had their slump mid December to mid Jan, LA's slump started mid Jan.
There's only a few recent exception of teams that can go a whole year without a slump. Boston's recent historical season, and Tampa the year the BJ's bounced them in the 1st round.

Eh it happened to Washington too, they were getting badly outshot/outchanced for the better part of January, but the goaltending covered for them
