I mean, that can be said for building a two way team, defensive team, team around elite goaltending, etc. I know it's cliche, but if your best players don't show up things will be tough no matter what brand of hockey you're trying to play. Why those guys seem to disappear every playoffs is up for interpretationThe issue isn't the "formula" of building around offensive forwards, it's that if you do build that way, those forwards actually have to show up when it matters. Toronto's biggest issue is their core simply don't show up enough when it matters.
