What happens if the Toronto Maple Leafs don't go deep in the playoffs?

It's pretty amazing how much money this franchise leaves on the table by not having deep runs. Playoff home game revenue is all gravy. Leafs' fans would spend a ton on them and buy merch celebrating any season making it to the third round. I still have a VHS tape from their awesome '93 cup run.. I paid money for a tape to basically reminisce making it to the 3rd round.

The parade planning committee gets retained for next year and AM34’s hairline gets worse. Outside of that, we’ll hear next year how they’re cup contenders even if playoffs end the same spot annually.

Assuming they get knocked out in the first or second, it will be the same thing with trade everybody until the next season when Toronto goes 4-0 to start the season and there's 8 threads about this is the year lol

I do honestly hope they go deep this year, I could careless for the players ( mostly Matthews ), but their fans deserve it

Want to point out those threads? The only threads made about the Leafs this year have all been negative. That is factual. Not a single Leaf fan is parading around like this is the year.

Obvious thread is obvious

The bar seems to be "win cup" or the Leafs season is considered a failure. If they make the conference finals, or even the finals, they will still be considered losers. Even if they win the cup, I'm sure a handful of people here would complain that they cheated or 'did it wrong'.

It's funny when all the fans of the league's bottom feeders switch over to cheering for the Leafs to fail this time of year because their team is so far out of it that they're basically irrelevant for the rest of the season.

Going deep in the playoffs won't change anything for the leafs, it won't be enough.

Short of winning the cup the team needs some restructuring and with the cap rising a lot this off season they go t lucky in their timing.

I'm not going back over how many years are showing you the threads. There was at least 6 threads one year about Matthews or the Leafs at the start of the season. Every time Matthews goes on a goal scoring streak there's endless threads.

Why do you think lots of posters on here love to see the Leafs fail? It's a two way street. Even on the trade board at the start of free agency there's a thread for every free agent going to Toronto. To be fair though, there are a ton of Leaf fans, so obviously they post more than most fan bases.

I don't hate the Leafs, not a fan of Matthews, but like i said I would like to see them go far for the fans and they deserve it. Over the years I just use the ignore button on all the threads lol

What happens is a bunch of guys on HF get together and rent out a hotel room, sit down in a circle, grab their mate on either side of them, put a recording of the final losing game on tv, and let the fun begin.

It's something that, according to Google, Albert Einstein said.

Not sure why people are getting hung up on this shit lmfao.
The irony must be lost on you.

1. Its not the definition of insanity
2. When people parrot it like it is the definition of insanity they are doing what "einstein" says the definition of insanity is, therefore they themselves are insane.
3. There's no proof its something that Einstein actually said.
4. Its a pop culture "definition" that people say to make them seem educated and gets amplified in movies and TV so people think its a real definition and they parrot it around like they know what they are talking about.
5. its irony at its finest.

I think it more to do with the fact that they have so much talent on that roster but can't buy playoff success for the life of them, outside of winning 1 playoff round in 20 years

I think if it's a quick first round exit we won't see Shanahan back. Maybe not fired, but "resigns". It's actually nuts that a team with that much regular season success can't figure it out in the playoffs.
