It’s kinda sad to see it shutdown after all these years, but it had not been the same place it once was in a very very long time.

In either case, it was a pretty good run. I don’t even honestly remember what year it when I founded it (although as Leafscentral at the beginning) but it was our new home for many of us for quite a long time when the official Leafs boards shut down. Haven’t been involved in several years, but I met a lot of good people there when I was.

Sypher my dude good to see ya! Yea you created something that was special for a long time. But the slow exodus of the main crew really hurt that site. The idiots really took over. I remember a time when we'd make fun of HF for being bottom tier hockey talk, oh how times have changed.

That site became a cesspool of politics like most other social media these days. I left about a year ago, the hockey talk was basically non existent anymore. Raiden is a good dude but he let the inmates run the asylum the last few years. That British twat especially ruined every possible discussion.

I remember talking with Raiden just before I left for good and he said the site didn't have much time left. If he did indeed finally pull the plug, I say good bye and good riddance to that site and most of the people on it

The admins really ruined that place. It’s unfortunate because it was actually a great place to talk hockey, more specifically Leafs hockey, but it came to the point where if you didn’t think or agree with the admins you were called out to be stupid and not know anything about hockey.

Is this the only discussion board left or are there others out there?

thanks guys. i grew up on the leafs official board, was a member at leafscentral and leafsconnected as well but by that time posted less and less. poked my head in now and then, thats how i noticed i couldnt get on

british guy, you mean jodi? he posted all the way until the end?

I don't think theres many left out there, at least not for hockey.

Reddit's hockey section is pretty popular, but there you have to put up with cringe shit like "good game bear bros." Its basically a bunch of nerds that've never played hockey in their lives acting like lifelong experts, while talking down on any physicality thats left in the game

 I'll pass. There's enough of that here.

Yup. As far as I know, I left there last summer with no intentions of going back. Jodi was growing more and more insufferable with every passing day. I actually didn't mind the guy 5 years ago but he really went off the deep end the last couple years, and unfortunately the admins there seemed to have a special set of rules for him as opposed to everyone else.

When did you leave the site?

I used to love that place. They then tried to update it to make it more social oriented and ruined it. That was when I joined here.

More or less yea. How long were you around there for?

Back in its heyday as LeafsCentral and early in the migration to LeafsConnected, it was a great place. There was definitely an old boys club, but for the most part they were good dudes and kept each other in check. Then one by one they started moving on, and eventually TI and Raiden were the only ones left. Raiden let things get way out of hand and TI turned in to a massive douche.

I was around since the LeafsCentral days. Stuck around LeafsConnected until my shortcut link stopped working a few months ago. Wasn’t nearly as active this past year or two however but always checked in on game days that’s for sure.

Good to see you to! I definitely tried to make it a good place for us, but a few years along down the road after the move my personal life really took some difficult turns and I progressively stepped further and further away from running the site. I left things in very capable hands mind you, but over time the financial burden as well as upkeep becomes a lot for people. I’m still kinda sad to see it gone, even if I closed that chapter of my life a number of years ago, but I hope everyone from there is doing well. I don’t have a lot of time anymore to talk hockey with people, but when I do, I’ve just found the quality of conversation available here to be far better for a long time at this point.

I was on original leafs board, leafs Central, leafs connected, here, and hung in on all until the end, but did take some breaks because LC did become a tad painful to read in the off season. There were only a few left, and I think Raiden just decided to stop covering hosting.

Still, some good times, and good acquaintances were made, some of whom are here now.

I'm pretty sure the first iteration LeafsCentral was 2009 and then LeafsConnected was 2013

This thread made me think of the Sportsnet forums I used to frequent years ago before HF

Other than Reddit, it seems most of the other large forums have died out

You did a great job! It was a great place for a long time, and a huge upgrade from where we started at the original Leafs chat. That post wasn't intended to be a shot at you (or Raiden). I hope everything's going ok in your personal life now.

Yea I don't blame Raiden at all for pulling the plug, I wouldn't want to support a platform for most of those jackasses either. Army and TI really didn't help him at all in the mod department, sometimes causing more problems than they solved. Unfortunately most of the good people left a while back, shortly after you did. But I don't blame ya for being sentimental at all, that was your baby. Sucks to see it get killed off even if it was a shell of its former self and no longer your burden to carry lol.

I agree with you 100% on the hockey talk here. LC was better for a long time, but that ended 3-5 years ago when all the politics and trolling got outta hand and people started leaving. I feel like HF has also improved, but that might just be by comparison. Its such a big site that I never really look at usernames, so I'll try to notice next time we cross paths. I came here a while back for the general hockey talk and the Kings section, now that LC is gone I'll occasionally hit up the Leafs section too.

Ah yea were you AM34 on there? I was JKG33 for a while but then I switched to Duffman for the last run there.

We definitely did. Man those EASHL teams were some legit fun. We had a pretty big squad in the early days too.

I like many others underwent a name change. Jodi seemed to do it daily, but it was pretty easy to tell who he was because his posting style was always that of a petulant child who thought he was god's gift to society.
