Well, as of Monday we are 2 weeks from the deadline, so we will be seeing lots of trade action over that time. Is your team a buyer or a seller? Who are you willing to trade? Who is off limits on your team? What does your team need? Make sure to post the name of your team please.

Ottawa - seller

The Sens will be sellers once again, but they don’t have much to sell other than Nick Paul and Anton Forsberg, and there’s no guarantee they will be dealt. The team would like to re-sign both players I imagine. Erik Brannstrom might be available too, but he won’t be given away. Here’s who else would be available

Forwards

Chris Tierney (UFA)
Tyler Ennis (UFA)
Zack Sanford (UFA)
Adam Gaudette (RFA)
Clark Bishop (RFA)
Dylan Gambrell (RFA)

Defence

Josh Brown (UFA)
Michael Del Zotto (1 year left at 2 million AAV)
Victor Mete (RFA)

Everyone besides Mercer, Hughes, Bratt, Nico, and Hamliton are available in NJ. I'd include Sharangovich and Siegenthalar too in those guys because they're probably gonna be good contracts that NJD will need for the future. Would trade Severson for a haul after a team gets desperate after a possible Klingberg trade as well.

If Preds are serious about making a push, we'll need another top six forward and 4C.

As of now, this is us heading into the playoffs (knock on wood, we make it):

Forsberg - Granlund -Duchene
Cousins - Johansen - Kunin
Trenin - Sissons - Jeannot
Tolvanen - McCarron - Tomasino

Josi - Fabbro
Ekholm - Carrier
Borowiecki - Benning

Saros
Rittich

The third line and goaltending is perfect, the defense is great. Ideally you don't want Cousins in the top six and Hynes doesn't seem to want to play Tolvanen or Tomasino in the top six unless there's injury so I feel like an upgrade up there and someone to replace McCarron whose been fine but still mostly an AHL guy.

Ideally -

Forsberg - Granlund - Duchene
xxx - Johansen - Kunin
Trenin - Sissons - Jeannot
Cousins - xxx - Tolvanen/Tomasino

Needs:
  • Top/middle 6 forward;
  • Bottom 6 forward who's good defensively, physical, and/or a good PK'er (ideally LW);
  • A good faceoff taker (ideally it's something one of the aforementioned forward(s) can do).
  • Dman
    • If Byram is healthy, then a depth Dman would suffice;
    • If Byram is not healthy, then a top 4 Dman to partner Girard would be needed (can't have Murray/JJ/EJ in the top 4).
  • Cheap 3rd goalie for depth/injury insurance (ideally waiver exempt).

Available assets:
  • Prospects:
    • Any prospect not on the roster (i.e. anyone beyond Byram and Newhook);
  • Roster players (if salary needs to go the other way):
    • Compher ($3.5m x 2)
    • Jost ($2m x 2)
    • Murray ($2m x 1)
  • $3.9m in projected deadline capspace
  • All draft picks:

Draft Picks / Prospects

Luckily Francis has stated that we're willing to retain and have told everyone that we're willing to do so either as a third team or in taking on contracts(though, probably not long term ones) with extras attached.

Giroux would be a great fit but i'm not sure he'd waive to go there if the elite top tier teams make offers.

Ideally someone who can play 3C this season and replace Strome at 2C next season. Someone like JT Miller would be perfect, but the asking price is high. Not willing to part with Kakko, Schneider, or K’Andre but here’s my ideal lineup running 4 scoring lines assuming we can fill that role (using JTM as placeholder)

Kreider-Zib-Lafreniere
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Chytil-Miller-Gauthier
Hunt/Blais*-Rooney-Reaves

Then next season hopefully Chytil or Barron can establish themselves as 3C and Miller replaces Strome. Would be great if Sammy Blais is back for playoffs too
