What do you think of Alex Kovalev?

He was loved in Montreal and he loved it here. You saw in his game that he always tried hard and gave it his all while here. He was the 1st exciting player we've had in such a long time!!!

Says an abundance about the lack of great players, the Habs haven't had these last couple of decades. Price & Galchenyuk being the exceptions, the fact that teams have reached a parity not seen since the Original Six. This has made it difficult for players to score at prolific rates, since the Salary Cap Era has levelled the playing field for all franchises to compete. Adding Alex Radulov to our scoring aces Pacioretty, Gallagher, & Galchenyuk should see the Habs become a force offensively & defensively as they were in the dynasty yrs., IMHO!!!...:handclap::handclap::handclap: The defence should contribute quite a bit more offence also, with more offensive weapons in the lineup. Andrighetto has shown he's become a much stronger two way player, that can create offence, if Beaulieu takes the next step in his development, the Habs will be extremely hard to defend against, IMHO!!!...

Koivu and Kovalev
Gallagher and Galchenyuk

Funny how things worked out.

Always liked Kovalev. When he was on he was unstoppable. His bad games were still better than a lot of players in the league, but theyd be compared to his good games.

He cheered against the Habs in the playoffs, he can kiss my butt.

Ultra talented, minimal heart/desire.... good player who could've been great, but didn't want to.

When Kovy took nights off, every team took advantage during his shifts, that image sticks in my craw whenever I think of how great he could have been, desire to be the best wasn't part of his career, IMHO.:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

I liked him for a few years where he was here, but by the end I was just so ****ing sick of the drama that followed him every single season.

Every bloody year, there was some big Kovalev scandal. Carbo is a racist! Where's the tape?? Darkest day in history! I'm leaving the team! Long walk by the water with Gainey! Fist fights in the lockers! I hate Koivu!

It's one thing when the media makes garbage up because they don't like the guy, or the organization wants someone gone so they get the media to edge a guy out like with Subban... But Kovalev seemed to create it himself.

Kovalev was a much needeed injection of star power, skill, and energy to a team that needed it. One of my favorite Habs

I have a hard time understading a few of these scandals? He had nothing to do with the Darkest day in history, I never read anything about him saying he wanted to leave the team either. What fist fight are you talking about? Also last time I checked Koivu never had any beef with Kovalev and even praised him during his time in Montreal.

Maybe I missed a few of those so anybody feel free to let me in...

The only scandal about him was the Carbo comment in 2007 and nobody was able to find that Russian interview, it was probably made up in the first place. There's also when Bob Gainey asked Kovalev to stay home for 2 games in 2009 because his head wasn't in the game no more.

The hand faking incident during the playoffs of 2004 hurt him but except that one I feel a lot was made up by the media.

I can just hear Therrien, "Kovy is to much individualisss": Imagine Therrien telling Kovalev to dump the puck in the corner, what a train wreck that would be.

Lots of sizzle, not too much in the way of steak.

That tiger elbow he gave darcy tucker had me laughing for months.

Sure, he had a some seriously bad stretches on the club, but I'm able to give him a pass, because he seemed to rise up for big games, especially the playoffs.

Whether he was having a good stretch or bad stretch, I was usually intrigued everytime the puck was on his stick, because you knew that something special could be happening. He is the most exciting forward the habs have had in the last 25 years.

I definitely like him.

One of my favourites as well.

Ill always remember his slap shot short side top corner against Tim Thomas in overtime against the Bruins. Loved it.

This, Kovy floated less than patches does, and skill wise IAEC.
The Glove
The Elbow
The OT
(HM to his training video and flicking pucks into miniature nets top shelf with one hand-before all the skilled kids starting doing it the last 10 years)

Hw was an immensely talented player but he can't pull a miracle in his 40s like Jagr. End of story.

Well, I wasn't watching hockey during the period he was with the Habs, so all I know is that he was awesome and every year, someone says we should bring him back.

Also something about a glove.
