What do you think of Alex Kovalev?

I'm a huge Kovalev fan, always was even in the bad times. He made me enjoy watching hockey, made me love the Canadiens.

But are people serious in willing to bring him back!? The league was better with him playing, but sadly his time is past.

I'm all for him being powerplay coach however.

Those snipes. Deking the entire bruins team.

The artist. Alex Kovalev what a player!

I see Galchenyuk, is see a bit of Kovalev with something missing. He needs to get on the ice and have fun, forget about Therrien's ''puck dumping'' and ''short shift'' nonsense and just deke the other team for for 3 minutes. He can also loosen his helmet's strap so it falls off, for bonus ''style'' points.

Galchenyuk should definitely try to mold his game and on ice attitude like Kovy. Man it would be great to see the Artiste again in Montreal, but rather in Galchenyuk's style and play. Show him how to extend his shifts....2 mintues PP and sometimes 3 shifts in a row without changing. Play 9 minutes non stop. Hell yeah!

Extended shifts you say?

i think him helping out galchenyuk would be enough. We can hire him a trainer or mentor full time

And lose a glove, and then pick it up on the same shift, and score.

The thing that Kovy had that made coaches hate him, and sometimes fans too, was that he was downright cocky. I loved that about him. Alex (gally) is a hard worker. Once he slows the game down like AK27, AG27 will be a force to be reckoned with.

I was not a big fan of him. High maintenance, moody, inconsistent, just wouldn't show up sometimes.

That being said, there were more good memories than bad in Montreal.

I think more will like him than not. I voted I disliked him but I didn't really dislike him, I just couldn't vote that I liked him because that wouldn't have been true. But obviously his skill set was higher than any forwards we had at the time.

I loved his talent but did not like his lack of desire, my favorite memory of him is when he nearly took Darcy Tuckers head off.:laugh:

I can tell you that there havent been many habs Id pay the price of admission just to watch, Kovalev was one of the very few. It didnt matter if he supposedly took the night off he would still have a few shifts where you just marveled at what he was able to do. Had the hugest man crush on him. Playoff warrior!

He had 1 great season, 1 good one and a few average ones, elbowed tucker good once and faked an injury in the playoffs for a score once.

Fine free agent signing and good player, but not a player any team should build around, way too hot/cold.

Pleasure to watch.

and

Do you know how skilled a player has to be to make Plekanic and Kostitsin look offensively talented?

I liked him as a player, but I didn't like after he retired that he showed up to the Rangers/habs playoff series with a rangers shirt on and then played in the habs alum game last year.

Legend and the most attractive man on the planet.

Pretty much this.

Loved having Kovalev, gave us a taste of what its like to have a legit top 10 player in the league on your team, if only a few times a season.

I don't know if this is true or not, but my brother said that after the series where he got slashed and bumped into Souray, Kovalev was shaking the Bruins hands with his left hand? Lmao, would be legendary if true.

Habs Legend nuff said!

You don't get over 1000 points by being "lazy" he's amongst the best this league has ever seen.

oh man....i've been living in thailand teaching english for the past few months, a good time to be away from hockey given what happened last season. But I've been absolutely fuming since the Subban trade. Watching and reading through all the Kovalev memories sure made me smile!

Loved him.

I think it's stupid to call a guy like him lazy. He wasn't born with hockey skill, it's hours and hours of training and practice to reach that point. He loves his sport. Yeah he's no Branden Gallagher in term of effort. He's more of a energy saver player. If he played like Gallagher every shift, I don't think he'd be as effective. A team has other players that can bring that element to the game. I don't think a team wins with one type of player, you need good mix and balanced.

He loved the city, he loved the fans and was very present to the community. He's a gamebreaker that always brought it in the playoffs with us... (Wait... sounds like I'm describing Subban)

What's not to like?
