What do you think of Alex Kovalev?

He did change some games, but at some point even Gretzky doesn't guarantee you a cup. So much a single player can do.

but but he was a god....... best damn player ever

at the very least not with us, he was not his former greatness, but the fans were so starved for a champion - a star that he was the closest thing to it

What an *******, he went to a Rangers game in MSG wearing a Rangers shirt, of the team that drafted him.
5/5 classless Subbans.

While they played against the team he so dearly wanted to be captain of 5 years ago. He has the right to wear whatever he wants, but to me, his allegiance lies with the team he hasn't played for in over a decade, not with us. And to boot, that was clearly sending a message. Anyways, if he doesn't care about us more than his other team, then I don't care about him any more than I would any free agent mercenary who led the team absolutely nowhere.

The rangers from the 1994 cup team were all invited and met up together that night.. note how he's wearing a 94 cup champion shirt from back then. He's still very much a hab, look at his facebook page, he's always doing things for the kids here all over Quebec, with his habs jersey on.

I had no clue that was the case. Just judging by his **** eating grin, I got a sour taste in my mouth. While he was a hab I didn't like him either, so I guess this doesnt change my opinion haha

Kovy would be nowhere to be seen during a good portion of the game, then he would turn things around with 1 move

Damn

I remember when we finished with the best record in the East under Carbo

Going to the Bell Center that season was aesome, because watching the Kovalev-Pleks-AK46 line getting the puck back and skating towards to the other team's zone was so freaking sexy

I don't think we'll ever see as great skilled hockey as we saw with that line that year for the Habs in a while. It was an advantage having Carbo not having much of a system in that he let the guys play. It was freakin magical.

It's a sad thing that we'll never see Kovy play for the Habs ever again.

It's like Kovy understood that Habs fans loved skilled hockey and as such let express himself and put on a show like he had never done in his career. It was a mutual appreciation. Habs fans respected Saku but loved Kovy.

And both guys understood what it was to be a Hab. They understood what that meant for these fans and delivered in tons of dramatic moments.

He's also wearing a 94 cup champ hat. I loved him when he was here and have absolutely no ill will towards him.

I just wish he would have taken the contract so that Bob didn't go out and get Gionta or Cammi (not sure which one signed for his money)

The return of the ATAK line!!

waiting for the "he would still be effective" "we need scoring, and he used to score 20 goals a year" "he had a bad rep" posters to jump in.

There's a difference between a 30 year old player still in his prime and a 42 year old player who didn't even play this year.

I would take him just to play the PP. At least he can gain the zone and is a half-wall wizard.

Yeah, the 42 year old is in shape.
