I recall the habs lost a devastating back to back before the 2010 Olympic break against philly who they were competing with for a playoff spot. Markov was out long term and it looked bleak.

However that team not only got back into the playoffs after the break, but they also took out the two best teams in the conference before losing to those same flyers in the semi final.

You just never know, and this season has already been a lesson of how things can change out of the blue. That's not to say I expect the Habs to make the playoffs, but maybe they can propel themselves back in the picture, at least.

One thing they will need for sure is spectacular goaltending though, and on that end, I wish Monty would have been able to spend some time away from the game during this break to try and reset after playing so many nhl games this season.

Laine would definitely benefit from playing with Suzuki, but I think he'd also benefit from playing with Slafkovsky, yeah he's struggling a bit, but he's still a damn good passer. While Caufield also plays great with Suzuki, I think he could actually push Dach/Newhook/whoever on their line to play better.
