A beat up 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 150K miles on it and IDK if it will last another year.

Currently browsing a variety of price ranges...

Mazda CX5 (probably most bang for buck)
Lincoln Nautilus
Chevy Blazer RS
Audi Q5
Audi E-Tron (super reach car)

Mom and sister both drive a Q5...great car

I was looking at Subarus because of the reliability factor, maybe pass the car onto my daughter when she turns 16.

But, they're so ****ing ugly. Just so ugly.

My wife is leasing an '18 Forester, it's actually not that bad for a drive. Fits in the garage (pickup obviously doesn't) and actually has room for 2 car seats in the back seat. Don't mind it.

A 16 year old Golf IV.
my first car.

Manual shifting, about 80 ps left ( i could get more out of it).
And about 174.478 km driven.

I love this car :D

Nickname: Bruno Bringer.
Just curious - diesel?

I'm glad I have gained points, although I'm wondering how I would have lost them to begin with!

All my Accords and Preludes were manual. While Honda doesn't excel at everything (style and paint immediately come to mind), their gearboxes and clutches are fantastic. I think this will be my last manual. Been driving them almost exclusively since the mid 90's.

Think I may go for a pre-owned Legacy or Maxima next.

Maybe.
MT drivers are a rare breed. Both my H3T and my MINI are manuals. It's become increasingly difficult to find good, fun, MT cars though. That Jeep Gladiator is at the top of my list for my next toy.

My next car could easily be a Subaru. I love them if for no other reason than the vast majority of Subarus either have a "coexist" bumper sticker and are going way too slow in the left lane, or they're a WRX/STI and are going way too fast in the right lane. Craziest car demographic ever.

This is dead-on. Vowed I'd never get one because I couldnt stand the people who drive them, then my wife told me what's up and I gave in. I'm in the great white north (north of the Merritt) in CT, and this thing handles snowy hills well.

The way some people post here, I figured a couple of people chiming in about their Hummer purchase....

I remember back around 1986 or 87 we were leaving the San Genero in NYC and while walking to the subway I was approached and actually purchased a hummer for $10. The test drive was between a parked van and Cadillac . Not the type of thing I usually chime in with but you asked .

Back to topic , keep the good posts coming . Don't be shy about putting the locations of these great leads to car buying. You all are great and thanks for sharing . I've told a few car buying stories already but will also share I bought a Suzuki Samarai brand new back in 1988. Over in Hempstead where all the dealers were located heading up from Hempstead Tpke towards Garden City. It was $10,000 cash out the door tax and everything included. I bought that after selling my 1979 camaro. Figured I would live longer driving a 90 hp , 4 cyl, 5 speed instead of 115 mph on the causeway heading out to Malibu in Lido Beach on a Wednesday night for $1 beers . When I would drive it upstate I would have to go in that added truck lane to the right as my speed would actually decrease.
About the purchase . It was easy since I had my lawn mowing money. Those salesmen love CASHOLA . After about 6 months the stitching on both front seats was coming apart and the carpets , which were all removable , were also already wearing out under my feet. The dealer would not replace or repair . I told him I would sit outside the dealership with a box of lemons and tell all the customers to go elsewhere and on Saturday I did just that . When at 11 or so in the morning they wanted to talk I told them no thanks I have lotsa lemons to hand out . After lunch my salesman asked me to please stop and they would make everything right. I brought the car back on Monday morning. After they took it in they told me they would fix the seats but wanted me to pay for the carpet. ( truth to follow I promise) I jumped over the counter and chased the service manager into the back. I told him to give me my car keys back and I was going to drive it through the front window of the sales floor . They fixed everything for free. Now I was like 20 back then and had all kinds of muscles and free time . How I've never been in jail in my life is a mystery . FN Suzuki Samurai . Yepp I had one .

I hear dat. I've had two foresters in a row and I'll be getting a new car in a week. Even though they're ugly, I may be getting another forester. I've narrowed it down to the CRV (which looks like a glorified van these days) and Forester. I was thinking about the Mazda CX-5 , but I dont think it's quite as strong in winter driving and it's no raving beauty either. Admittedly the Mazda CX-5 is probably the most fun to drive but I live in the mountains with a lot of snow and that's my priority. If I lived in the burbs I'd get a CX-5

I've had some scary moments in a variety of cars, the Honda CRV and the Subarus, (Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek) with Blizzaks have worked best for me. The Forester still offers the most glass for side and rear views

When I started driving small SUV's they looked a bit like jeeps. Today they look like soccer mom vans. Never been so un-psyched to get a new car. I have to remind myself I'm lucky to be in a situation to get a new safe car. Wasn't long ago I had some seriously dangerous and ugly clunkers.

And Subaru Outbacks have a reputation as well, I won't say what it is for fear of a politically correct moderator.

Go to a snowy area and you'll see millions of Subarus.

I personally hate Audi Drivers. If someone cuts me off or causes any problems it will be an Audi Driver 80 percent of the time. I think they are angry they can't afford top of the line BMWs or Mercedes. If I see an Audi I never let the driver cut in, I drive right up to the car in front of me. They've f*ed with me one too many times.

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. It's my seventh. I also still have my 2003.

I usually buy them with over 100,000 km (60,000 miles), and put about 250,000 more on them.

I've had a bit of transmission trouble with two of them, and the '03 is starting to rust, but the engines are unkillable, and the amount of stuff you can carry is great.

A few years ago I took my son's band to a gig about 90 miles away. Me, five musicians, full drum kit (electronic kick), bass amp, three guitars, bass guitar, and sax. On the way home, at 3AM, they pulled out one guitar and we had a singalong.

One thing that I really dislike about Audi, you can’t tell if it’s a Volkswagen or an Audi. Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m looking at a Passat or an A6 until I get up close.

That's completely irrational. Stop being a jerk and drive right before you hurt someone.

That's awfully specific. Only Audi drivers f with you?

Possibly because it is essentially the same car? Volkswagen owns Audi so my guess it´s 80% more or less the same stuff in there. Some more fancy stuff spent on the Audis but I had an 06 Passat once and it was the most comfy car I´ve had. A pleasure to drive but all sorts of things wrong with it.
