Shit happens, but I've parallel parked enough times in my life and I've never hit another car. If you're hitting other cars routinely you're doing it wrong. There's just no way around it. I'm not talking about a bike or a rock hitting a car, I'm talking about your car bumping into another car.

What about keying a car? I used to do that all the time at the Coliseum.

Apologize for the 100% serious post.

Does anyone know a fantastic NY area custom car shop?

I want an S2000. I don’t fit in it. I need 3”-4” more legroom.

I need a place who can do killer shit to cars to tell me if they can find/create/execute changes to the car to do this.

Or tell me it just can’t be done. it’ll be expensive.

little help?

Bones, I admire your dedication to the S2000, and I'm no expert, but I suspect that would be very expensive (and maybe compromise the handling if you're talking about extending the car or something).

I had the S2000 bug a year and change ago and sat in a 2005 at a Honda dealer near me that was a one owner car with 16,000 miles and they were asking $28,000. In retrospect, that was a really good deal! I didn't do it and ended up getting the MX-5 RF and haven't looked back. Not sure how tall you are - I didn't drive the S2000 but felt okay just sitting in it (roof was down though). I'm a shade over 6'2" now (somehow dropped an inch over the years), longer legs than torso. I fit fine in the MX-5. It actually has decent legroom - tall people with more torso have issues with the roof though. FWIW, the S2000 is supposed to have a great shifter. I've had a 2006 Civic SI and still have a 2013 TL, both with great shifters just below the S2000 in reputation. And the Mazda blows them both away. It's just an amazing shifter and clutch.

One other thing about the S2000. I've heard from some people that the narrow power band so high in the rev range can get old after a while for daily driving. In my case I didn't think that would be a problem. ;) But the Mazda goes to 7500 RPM which is pretty fun, and the power band is wider for sure.

Having said all that, you only live once and they ain't getting cheaper....

It def would be expensive -- but it could be an option. I'm 6'4". I've sat in S2000 stock and no good. Same with MX5 and now same result with MR2- Spyder.. I test drove a Spyder last night -- car was a bit of a mess. exhaust "upgrade" - short shifter-- was in two accidents -- but I was curious as to how a car like that feels being a small engine and RWD -- and Spyder is mid engine -- so that added to it. Def fun to drive. With top down, and me sitting straight up -- Im staring right into the top of the windshield. No bueno and kinda funny.

So Id be looking for a place who would have to cut into the car to allow the seat rails extend further back. I don't think anyone would do it for probably just the liability part of it. But its a question.

I'd wait for the frenzy to die down and then try to get a deal, and especially if you can get a financing deal (probably a long wait before you see anything like 0% financing on these). Otherwise, if you want a manual try looking in areas where they're not popular. And when I was shopping for my MX-5, for some reason they had 1 near me (which I got) but dealerships in MD had like 20 of them. Not sure if it's a similar deal with Toyota/Subaru.

Bones, I just read that Mayor Pete (the transportation Secy) is talking about bringing speeding cameras to the US. So you may want to hold off on the sports car.

I was thinking this the other week but a white Ford Explorer with a bunch of antennas.

Lurking this forum for trade bait, but saw this thread.

Is there a huge wait for brand new cars where you are as well? Made a purchase in November, pick-up date...April lol, and who knows how Omicron might impact that.

Trade in value here(Canada) is absolutely insane though, a really good time to trade in if you're looking, and the dealership will beg you to do so lol. I didn't trade my car in, but man they really want trade-ins.

So if there's something you really got your eye on, just go for it, the wait list is huge for anything new - and the dealerships know that too.

If anyone is looking for an SUV, I did a ton of research and can pretty much answer any question lol.

Where did you get it? Did you lease or buy? I have an X1 right now and lease up this month.

A lot of people have been saying to buy the car off lease and then trade it in at the dealer instead of letting it go off lease. You will make more money off the car.
