Canada DOES have counties, I grew up in one, in Ontario (ETA- I guess you meant BC, not Canada)

Some places in Canada call them Regions or something similar, which I think is the same thing for this kind of discussion.

In Canada, only 5 provinces have counties: Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Ontario

Being a french canadian, I have trouble understanding most of the words you guys are saying... and I speak english very well... I just don't know what the different words mean, like County, Parishes and such.

Right now the Bell Centre is located Downtown, but before, the Montreal Forum was really close to Verdun (if not IN Verdun), which is a city-within-a-city, in south west Montreal.

It's just how a state/province is divided in administrative terms, for various purposes such as economy and political most often. Counties are the biggest form of administrative division within a state/province.

In terms of the Bell Center, it is in Montreal "County" (includes the island of Montreal and all the neighboring islands).

I think in Quebec, counties are known as
"municipalité régionale de comté" (MRC)
, is that correct?

No. MRC are the next tier of administrative division in Quebec. Counties are know as administrative regions in Quebec. There's 17 of them here

I dunno man, people have been posting in this very thread that there are counties in parts of Manitoba and Alberta.

So are the MRC and the administrative region where Montreal is, both called Montreal?

There's is no county in Alberta or Manitoba. Only in the 5 provinces I listed. Alberta repealed its County Act in the 90s they have municipal district but some may have kept "county" in their names but are not counties per se.

As for Montreal, it's not in any MRC

I know all about counties as an Englishman, back home they take on the same significance as states in terms of local pride.

Regards from Bennington County (Bruins territory).

That reminded me of this humorous, slightly crude song about English counties. Apologies if you are from Essex.

I can vouch for this being correct in Alberta.

The confusion is caused because most 'counties' in Alberta kept their names after the change occurred, ie: Strathcona County is technically Specialized Municipal District No.11.

Quite frankly, when you see the municipal names...it is no wonder why they stick to their old titles.

Southern Illinois, especially the area closest to St. Louis, would be more likely to root for the Blues than the Hawks. I'd guess that there are some Blues' fans throughout the state of Missouri but there don't seem to be that many outside of the larger St. Louis metro area (e.g., not many in SE MO, NE MO, Kansas City unless they are St. Louis transplants). I'd guess that Florida is divided and probably several other areas as well.
Southwestern and central Missouri have plenty of Blues fans. Largely this is due to the presence of large college centered cities like Missouri State and University of Missouri in Springfield and Columbia respectively.

The concept of counties comes from the British.

The concept of parishes comes from the French, which is why Louisiana has parishes instead of counties, and why St. Louis is not in a county.

If you are speaking about St. Louis, Missouri, then you are incorrect. St. Louis City is its own county. It separated from St. Louis County because it didn't want to pay for the continued expansion of infrastructure outside of the city, primarily paving street with brick.

It's getting heated in here. It reminds me of the show "How the States Got Their Shapes." There should be a "How the Provinces Got Their Shapes."

A better question would be which counties are fanbase territories for each team?

The NFL and NBA have a Twitter map.
MLB has it broken down by zip code.
Wish we'd get one for the NHL.
