1. Canada - Gold or nothing.

2. Sweden - Golden Generation.

I've heard that hockey interest in Russia is starting to slide abit, and I'm sure a Gold medal would mean a heck of a lot to their players and the game of hockey in Russia.

Well if you look the HF Olympic Hockey board threads its...

Does Canada miss Tom Renney?
The Trap Thrives in 2006 Olympic Games
Do you still believe in Canada's chance to win gold
Mike Lucas: Olympic hockey unwatchable? You bet it is
Pat Quinn can't handle team Canada
So Much For The "Bigger Ice" Myth

This is close to a panic.

Heres some attitude for ya:
"We want to lose" club. For Swedish and Russian fans only.

Also Finland is fearless:
I cry if Finland loses... (but also) The Hockey World fears Finland

Obviously Canada

#1 reason : National sport
#2 reason : Media backlash
#3 reason : The ego of such an all star team
Hockey isn't Canada's national sport... nice to see you paid attention in school :P... Canada's national sport is Lacrosse

but i do agree it's got to be harder for Canada to lose than any other nation... hockey is taken more seriously here than anywhere in the world... and even though we will be proud of the guys for their efforts if they don't win it is a failure... Silver or Bronze just don't cut it... we consider ourselves the #1 hockey nation and it is a disappointment if we don;t achieve that feat

Depends on what round. And the "Crazy' level of the fans.

I think Sweden has to at least medal.Good enough to win it all, probably last chance for some of their better players, so no doubt they want to go all the way, but they'd probably could live with getting a medal of some color.

Canada has to get to the gold medal game, then if they lose it'll at least be respectable.

Russia....has medalled in every Olympics that I'm aware of and probably want the trend to continue, but I think many realize they have a lot of youth and inexperience as well as questionable D.Will be completly scary in 2010, though(Oddly, thats what I said about Sweden and 2006)

Czech Republic: Same as Canada.

USA...doesn't fear losing so much. Not expected to medal, and fans in that country don't froth at the mouth at the mention of hockey.

The other countries are generally considered underdogs, who will be overacheiving if they play in one of the medal games.
