I had their original demo that I got from a Sevendust concert. It had Suite-pee, Know and War? At the time I thought it was the best metal that I ever heard. It was heavier and much more aggressive than what it was on their debut album. So disappointed that they toned it down. I don't know what happened to it, but I would love to find those recordings again.
Really this version and all the others on the demo are different? would be cool to hear that demo!
The only thing I ever got at a concert was groped.

for some unknown reason--I am listening to pop music from the 80's that I hated but do not mind now. In the 80's I was only into hard rock

Example

I feel like this happens to me more and more. All the songs from the 90's that I didn't like back then are not pleasant (for the most part, there are exceptions), I think frankly because they were on the radio and I got to know them regardless of liking them. I like them now because they bring a level of comfort and nostalgia that I never really leaned into until I hit a certain age.

I'd say I do the same with movies. Not ones I didn't like per se (I wouldn't have watched), but those that maybe I didn't watch, but had a thread in the social fabric of the time (an example for me would be Beverly Hills Cop).

At any rate. Nostalgia is fun, and seems to almost be more fun when it's stuff I didn't like at the time.

I agree,
a LOT and I do mean A LOT, of pop shit from the 80's I despised at the time. I was into ACDC, Queensryche, VH, Scorpians, Maiden and others in the 80s and when when I heard some pop songs--not a good reactions,

now 30 years later--either I have mellowed or music has gotten worse to make it sound better

Could also be that the pop that was shit 30 years ago faded into obscurity and the only stuff that stuck around to the point that it's even remotely available now is the good stuff. Like I'm similarly sure there was stuff on rock/alt-rock stations in the 90s that I've forgotten and you'd have a bitch of a time finding now because it was trash then and trash now.

years ago i was hanging at my friend's house along with his girl who used to date daryl hall during the 80's. i blabbed out, "what does oates do?" friend ponders for a few moments and then goes, "that's right. what does oates do?" the girl could only react by laughing with the both of us.

The Chicago Transit Authority & Chicago IX (Chicago's Greatest Hits) by Chicago, The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra and Queen II.

Jeff Lynne: "A Beatles fan, moi?"

"You shine a little love on my life", it says in the chorus apparently... Anyway, catchy as hell.

The vocals were much more aggressive, and the overall sound was heavier. It made a HUGE difference. They could have been at the top of extreme metal, instead of numetal darlings.
