I just purchased Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus by Spirit, 5cd box set by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (=their first five albums) and a 3cd compilation by Mott the Hoople/Ian Hunter. Some examples of those, respectively:





Somehow TSAHB reminds me of Alice Cooper (the band) a bit, but less hard rock-y and a bit more cabaret




Not a fan of Ian Hunter's singing (kind of like David Bowie on a bad day), but as a songwriter, pretty good.


The later (version) "Cleveland Rocks" is probably better, but this is okay too

Ry Cooder is an amazing guitarist. I just wish he played more music that appealed to me. I do like his soundtrack work though - especially on Southern Comfort and Paris TX, as well as the Buena Vista Social Club.

Robert Randolph puts on a great show.
