Yea but St. Sobotka can only play center.

There is no one I miss less than that guy.. talk about overrated.

You always had a really interesting dislike for him for whatever reason but I been watching him in St Louis and he's been very good. I'd actually go 180 on you and say underrated. He's a guy like Thornton brings more than scoring. Thornton is one of the best fighters and leaders in the game not easy to do in his role- and Sob for his size can bring the wood with the best of them- and Blues management likes what he brings to 'the room' like Thornton. It's more than Seguin & Hamilton you need all types

Clowe and Murray

This would be a disastrous move. Bruins already have an insane stockpile on ogre defensemen. Don't need another one.

And Clowe is terrible, being a slow ogre who fights doesn't mean he's another lucic/horton. He consistently fails in the playoffs, turns the puck over a ton, and takes an alarming amount of stupid penalties. He is a grossly inconsistent offensive player who has the great fortune of playing with some extremely talented players. He is one of the most overrated "power forwards" in the league and not someone the bruins should look at to fix that third line. He won't be able to keep up or aid pevs and kelly. Moreover he isn't worth the cap hit or the price tag it will take to get him.

Agreed, if you look up and down that Sharks roster, he`s THE guy who has playoff type player written all over him in regards to never being worried about the guy doing anything and everything to win game in and out, love his game

Too bad he hasn't been a playoff player at any point in his career.

the SOB was a beast in the buffalo series for the b's. i always thought his biggest issue was durability. as strong as he is for a small dude, his style of play will have him injured often. didn't understand the hate for him either - guy played hard, hit people often, and chipped in a goal every now and then.

After last night

We need one of Brian MCGRATTAN or Steve MACINTYRE!

I %$^&$#@ hate the Sabres! I don't even care if we win the game, just hope they beat the snot of them and then take a time-out with less then 30 seconds left!

I would love to dress this line-up next time we play those a$$holes.

If the Stars fall out of contention, Michael Ryder may be very available. He would slot in quite well as a high end 3rd line left wing who turns it on in the playoffs. More realistic that Ryan Clowe, no reason for the Sharks to deal a heart and soul member of their team.

The Bruins don't need to waste roster spots on no-talent goons. :shakehead

It wasn't Scott who beat the Bruins in that game, it was Vanek and an uncharactaristic night of chasing their own tails in the defensive zone. The Bruins play their usual game and they cruise.

The fact that you would endorce scratching Paille who has been the ideal 4th liner and better than I have ever seen him in the last few years is astonishing, especially for a guy like Steve Macintyre... Ill take 4th liners that can actually play and have heart

Has O'Reilly resigned yet? He'd look good on the B's. And I think he's the player Dom eluded to on twitter that said he would one day love to play on the B's.

Wonder what it would take to get him.

Just for fun question, if Ovechkin is on the table and Washington willing to eat at least $4M, what would you offer for him?

Good to see there is no knee jerk reactions from the Bruins losing a game and a fight.

Some fans will always overreact because a bad game and is understandable (sometimes). In my opinion, at this moment, we just need to improve the third line (despite the horror show, I liked Paille playing alongside Perveley and Kelly).

2/3rds of our 4th line is out right now... Paille sparked the 3rd line but they likely need him back on the 4th line to make that line as good as it has been over the years.

I'd like to see Sauve finally get a long-term shot on 3rd line LW. He has speed like Paille but better hands. Worst that can happen is he gets hurt and the spot goes to someone else.

Of course, I think it is pretty obvious that I also think we need a HW enforcer to replace Thornton. I don't see how he will be able to come back and do that job anytime soon.

With Paille out, I'd like to see Claude close the ranks and move Campbell to 3rd line center with Kelly and Peverley flanking him. Maybe taking a wingers approach will breath some life into Kelly's game in the offensive zone. The 4th would be MacD, Tardiff, and Bourque and play them 4-5 minutes ( traditonal 4th line minutes ) and role with mainly a 3 line attack.

I know everyone wants to downplay the whole Thornton episode but they have been using a roster spot on an "enforcer" as it is, so it must be important. The plus about Thornton is that he can play. Now that Thornton is out (and I'll bet its for more than 10 days), is it Macdermid thats supposed to fill that role? I've seen him get tuned a few times. I'm not sure its a good thing if your "enforcer" gets his clock cleaned on a regular basis. Anyone think they might look into acquiring someone to fill this role?

Chris Neil has always been the type of player I'd love to see on the B's ! Definitely up there with the toughest in the league as far as fighting, and can be a real physical presence as well ( see Boychuck for reference .... ). Can score his share of goals ( 13 last year, and a couple this year already ) so like Thornton he's more than just one dimensional. Please this is not a " lets replace Thornton " post, just thinking Neil is the type of tough player that'd help round out our bottom 2 lines. Does a Peverly for Neil swap make sense ? Do we still have an excess of depth at center to help replace Pev's ? Ottawa needs help at center with Spezza out ........

The Buffalo loss...

It doesn't bother me that THORNTON lost a fight to a much bigger SCOTT and you win some, you lose some. I am, however, concerned with the way they lost. Last year Buffalo absolutely tanked after LUCIC ran MILLER and nobody from the Sabres responded. To me, the Bruins looked intimidated to during Monday's game, the same way Buffalo looked after LUCIC ran MILLER. Yes, VANEK was the star and obviously beat us on the scoreboard but I feel that he was able to play his game because the Bruins were absolutely out of sync after watching their toughest player get man-handled. To add salt to the wound, that %^$&-face RUFF takes a time-out with less then 30 seconds left and the game well in hand! How did the Bruins respond? Nothing!

This game was not only a loss, which happens, it was a slap in the face after losing! As an organization you have to respond to that. I %^$&*% hate Buffalo but I will give them credit because they did exactly that in response to the LUCIC incident during the off-season. some say the LUCIC hit had nothing to do with it and Buffalo just wanted to add grit, I say ********! Their offseason moves were in direct response to what happened.

In my humble opinion, the Bruins are viewed as the league's watermark regarding physicality. When you have that reputation, everybody else wants to challenge it, evidenced by offseason changes by not just Buffalo but Montreal, Toronto etc. You can not underestimate intimidation, Philly won two Stanley Cups with it as the main ingredient mixed with a sprinkle of skill and I dare say it was a huge part of our Cup win in 11.

Bruins have a big game in TO this evening, a team even tougher then Buffalo (ORR, BROWN, MCLAREN, FRASER). It will be interesting to see how they play tonight.

I said I wanted Neil on this team in another topic and someone brought up his dirty history. IDC about that he is a good player and fighter. Plays hard nosed and on the edge like the Bruins do.

Hogwash! He's a hockey player! Please ignore his 93 career fights on the Bruins.

Not a fan of this long term. But right now b/c of the injuries I think its a good idea.

I expect Chris Kelly to bounce back asap. But...if he does not you might have to think about him playing on the 4th until he gets it together.

You are so right. You can't let Vanek focus on scoring goals at will on our ice. You need to make him worry about not getting iced with an open ice hit or whacked with a stick when he approaches the net. On top of it the sabres were allowed to headshot two of our players on their own ice. Talk about the Sabres sending a message to the league.
