What’s going on with Zegras?

I think between the injuries and trade rumors there's been too much negativity between both player and organization. I wouldn't be surprised if both sides are ready to move on soon, perhaps next summer.

That said, Zegras has looked pretty good back at center in the two games I watched this week.

Unfortunately both of these statements are true. He’s much better at center, it gets the puck on his stick through the middle of the ice, gets him off the wall, etc. He is playing a significantly more complete game but being yo-yoed around with different positions, linemates, etc. isn’t going to help him. However, rumors recently are more so that the Ducks have no intention of moving him for scraps and teams that are trying to “buy low” can go fly a kite.

Curse of the coverboy.

He'll be fine. Still a kid.

His struggles all started after the last contract negotiation which by all accounts was contentious. I wonder if it is hurt feelings from those negotiations and he feels over the ducks management.
At the end of last year he looked like himself.

He started the season playing with an injury, then broke his ankle. I’d consider last season essentially a throw away.

This season he has put a heavy emphasis on being a more complete player, competing in all 3 zones and trying to gain the trust of being out there when the game is on the line (offensively and defensively)…. His defensive game has improved a lot, but the offense (specifically raw offense) hasn’t started coming for him.

That’s going to mess with a young players confidence, I’m sure he hears “do your part in your end and the points will come” well he’s done that and the points havnt come. He’s still dangerous player, just seems a like he’s missing his killer instinct.

Doesn’t help that all of our “goal scorers” (killorn, Vatrano, mctavish, fabbri) have 5 goals in 40+ combined games (and 3 of those are empty nets). I’m not too worried he just needs a little hot streak, his game as a whole has improved and that’s good news overall.

enlighten me.

when I search ‘zegras’ as a thread title within this forum, it says there’s been 2 discussions posted about him in the last 2 years.

Like others have said they get merged, and I was including trade boards

Can anybody tell us why he's been so ass , because you know god dam well nobody in here outside of ducks fans are watching ducks games (my team's in the same boat).

And competing in all 3 zones and being more responsible shouldn't equate 3 points in 14 games that's crazy

Injuries, trying to be a more complete player, on a bad team, yo-yo'd in lineup, a bit unlucky.

Just a lot of factors going on right now. Wouldn't throw him away but a change of scenery may present itself with all the youth Anaheim has.

There's nothing I like more about our online culture than the threads and articles that are birthed from random tweets or TikToks with a few thousand likes. "Did you see this person you don't know saying this thing? Let's discuss it!" 🥰

It’s funny to me that people complain about the lack of personality and flair in the league, then a dude comes with both and so many people hate him there’s a thread like this continually going on.

Seems like a funny and personable guy off the ice, and the skill level is off the charts. I’m not buying he’s “washed”.

Nah. He’s still going to be a point per game player that can adequately play Defense but not a shut down guy. This entire offense is mangled right now.

Low confidence, focus on competing, a bit snake bitten (along with the rest of the team) bad system/coach.

No real goal scorers right now in Anaheim
- fabbri, gauthier, Vatrano mctavish and killorn have a combined 5 goals this year, 3 of those empty netter.

He is creating changes, just not getting raw points… they’ll come eventually… but anaheim
Needs to figure out who is going to score goals for us, outside of terry and carlsson no one else seems to want to. Since going back to center he’s been our best player

It’s a bad narrative pushed by fans that don’t like his personality… or watch the ducks play.

We’re not good as a team, and we play mostly late on east coast…. Fans act like they watch us all the time are full of it

Pretty much and I guess gibson had a good 1st game.

Carlsson zellweger Mintyukov and terry have been solid

Zegras fabbri and gauthier have played good hockey, just not getting the raw stats yet.

Vatrano, mctavish, killorn, gudas, fowler, strome have been miserable

Just seems like they’re young and taking their lumps as they grow. Seemed like Zegras clicked with Terry and Milano early and maybe hasn’t had that with any linemates since.

The team has mis managed zegras…. Threw him in wing with low talent players.

But then randomly put him at center for stretches…. He is way better center than he is at wing…. Hell last game he straight up told our reporter he hates playing wing…. That he sees the game better from center, and feels more involved as a center and enjoys playing defense from center position and enjoys taking faceoffs.

He needs to stick at center, and you need a goal scorer with him(unfortunately we don’t have those). Him and gauthier had great chemistry, but we split them up last game.

I’m hoping colangelo gets a call up and they go with…

Gauthier zegras Colangelo

Gauthier will start scoring more once he gets his 1st, and colangelo is the right type of player to mesh with those 2
