Rumor: Western teams interested in Mike Condon?

If true, the only teams that I could see being interested are the Sharks, Kings and Preds.

I'd be surprised if the Habs get more than a late pick as Condon is likely not a huge upgrade on what those teams and currently have, and there could be similar options on the waiver wire.

Pittsburgh has a need

"Matt Murray – Murray is set to miss another two to five weeks with a broken hand. He’s already sat out for one week so far. I wonder how Team North America would’ve finished if he wasn’t put in versus Russia on the second half of a back-to-back with a broken hand, but that’s all done now." -dobber-

I don't see it. Mtl management didn't tought he could do the job and sign an other backup. Mtl is about to put him on waiver because they don't think he's worth to keep. Ok, if he's push out by a young guy in the organisation, but no, they sign someone outside just to get ride of him ... so weeeel, a team would have to be really really in a bad spot to pay anything for him.

Condon still has potential, I could see him fetch a 3rd if more than 1 team interested

he isnt bringing in a 3rd. Berra is available for nothing and has much better stats. Condon fell apart last year when price went down.

Reimer brought in a conditional 4th, and he had a 2.39GAA/.923SV% when dealt. If a team offers a 5th for Condon, the habs probably jump all over it

Because Lou traded him at the deadline when no teams needed a goalie.

I really like Condon as a habs fan. Seems to have a great demeanor, apparently very well liked.

I would think a late 3rd-4th rnd pick gets it done. Ideally we could send Ghetto+Condon for something slightly better, I don't want to just lose them for nothing.

Condon is not good IMO. Habs fans asking for a 4th round pick in this thread know he isn't worth that. Would you guys trade a 5th rounder for him? No way, this guy is worth a conditional late round pick.

Because Lou traded him at the deadline when no teams needed a goalie.

That was also the 2nd trade between the Sharks and Leafs in a span of five days so there may have been an agreement already in place but they wanted to separate them for cap purposes.

I could certainly see SJ kicking tires on Condon, but it wouldn't be for a trade now. SJ is going to see how things go with what they have for at least a couple of months I'm sure. They let Jones build up one of the heaviest work loads in the league in his first year as a starter while Stalock stunk up his starts all the way to the trade deadline. I doubt they will be in any more of a rush to replace a back up this year. Even if the current backup in SJ isn't working out, I would expect them to still wait to see who all becomes available closer to the deadline. A weak backup isn't going to break SJ's playoff hopes in the first half of the season.

Also, I would certainly hope some of the names tossed out so far here from SJ would be worth more than Condon... Wingels, Ryan...
