I'm not insulting anyone. I didn't say Luoto was as good as Tanev. When Tanev started playing for the Jets, he was very widely bashed on these boards (it's funny how we have selective memory). It took a while for him to improve his style of play and gain recognition for what he did for the team.

I believe that Luoto has the same foundational ability as Tanev. For crying out loud, he's a damned rookie having played a handful of NHL games. Lets give him a chance to figure it out and learn?

I stick by my belief. Luoto could develop in a disruptor role. Speedy, aggressive forecheck, PK'er, and might chip in here and there.

Yeah Tanev was awful for his first year and a half.

Luoto dies have a similiar motor and skill set. I think the best place for him right now is the AHL but I was wrong about Tanev so we shall see here.

That or Helly rebounded from mediocre last season to the best goalie in the league and they were both right to ride him.

as you are probably aware, that was not my point.

no team goes anywhere in this league without goaltending, and hell was a vezina candidate lately.

it may not be the only reason, but Maurice getting laine to play a 2 way game shows how good a coach he is.

Luoto turnovers pucks on half wall more than Ladd did. He’s not NHL ready, Chibisov please and thanks.

You may have identified a slight wrinkle with picking a Moose callup based on a strong training camp.

I'd say Chibby is putting increasing daylight between himself and Luoto, with Shaw over on the dark side of the moon. Would be interesting to see a Harkins/Gus-Seuss/Chibby 4th for a bit. Wonder if they'll change things up after the road trip. Apples is probs a month away including a stint of *"conditioning time" with the Moose.

* Up to and possibly exceeding one regular season.

I'd say Ehlers is really coming into his own this year, and likely will have a career year, for goals and points scored. I just hope he doesn't get injured --I see a lot of bigger players taking shots at him.

Be nice to have Buff back in the lineup, to keep those dirty players honest -- or maybe sick Lowry on them, as he can be very physical and intimidating if he wants to be.

another thing to consider.

we are handicapped by the buf situation.

we need to have the available salary if he comes back.

so were are managing with a limited cap

Foundational ability I’ll agree with. But I think it’s way too early to really have a bead on some of these kids. They definitely need more time. Think it should be someone else’s turn now. Luoto can go back and work on his weaknesses.

I would love a decent legit 4th line winger vet to play with these kids.

I think you’re right. Most fans don’t realize he’s just 22. He’s undrafted just like Tanev and probably has more upside due to his size.

Great win, but I still hate the fact that Wheeler replaces Laine with the empty net... Sends as bad of a message as Connor staying and Laine on the bench...

How about Laine playing the second fiddle on the PP? He's our superstar and PoMo needs to support that goddammit!!
You sound like a bigger Laine fan Than a Jets fan!! I say who cares about an empty netter, all we care about are 2 points... Ps Chef is our superstar

Nice, nothing too bad happened after I fell asleep. Good game!

Fourth line sucks and if we are defending a lead, for the love of God don't put CSW out there, that was insane. I don't care about the empty netters but that is pretty much the last combination you want out there protecting a lead.

But good stuff still, second line was on fire for sure.

here is something to think about.

when the season started, and we became aware of what our defence would look like......

how many of you thought we would be 9th in the league after 21 games.

(get your hand down sip)

could it be that our gm knows what he is doing?

could it be that our coach is far better than any of you give him credit for?

seems we have a system, and everyone has bought in

Or, key injuries have forced Maurice’s hand to finally do what was needed.
Breaking up Scheifele and Wheeler being the most obvious.
I do remember several people before the season started saying that our defence would be better at moving the puck out of our end this year with Myers and Chiarot gone.
The truth is probably somewhere in between.

Lemieux took too many stupid penalties...and some attitude stuff brought up here on the boards.
Good riddance.
Chariot...well it would be nice to have him here right now...but he needed a payday and we weren't going to give him one.
Lemieux leads the entire NHL in PIM with 45, to go along with his 1 goal and 6 points.

Kulokov leads the Jets with 18 PIM and the next highest player (Lowry) has 9.

Good riddance indeed!
