Weird game, we carried the play the majority of the night but many of our guys looked like they were just going through the motions and lollygagging around at key times, and that was the difference. Didn't test Lankinen with enough good scoring chances but good performance by him and his team. Deserved win for them.

World not ending. For the most part, we played well. The 1st was spectacular. But we had a few defensive breakdowns and Chicago made the most of them, and then played 1998 style hockey because the refs decided not to call anything, and it worked for them. I'm sure Rod's press conference will involve a couple variations of the phrase "trust the process", and he'll be right. We play like that and we win much more often than we lose.

I'll Agree on the 1998 style play... Clutch and Grab

Tonight was a missed opportunity. Instead of taking over 1st, we are now in 3rd. It's little games like this that are key in a playoff race. And let's be real, we stunk up the place tonight. We didn't deserve to win. We played an awful 40 minutes after dominating the first. We deserved this result, which is not great.

Agree. We could play that exact same game and score 4 goals next time.

I like Lankinen but 32 shots felt like this. nothing dangerous. lots of chest logos and end boards. The one goal was an accident.

Guess we blame this one on Pesce. That giveaway was atrocious
Skjei wasn't great either. I know he basically created our only goal and has actually been one of the few offensive catalysts from the back end lately (which is a problem in and of itself), but he had a brutal giveaway to end the 1st period that luckily didn't end up in the back of the net then had another one to start the period which did, and ultimately that had a big effect putting us in that 2nd period slump.

This team still needs help in all 3 phases to be a legit Cup contender if we're being honest. That's why if we trade for a d-man I'd understand. Make our 4 through 6 d-men earn it every night.

Our last 2 regulation losses are to Detroit and a free falling Chicago.

That's just bad. Beating Tampa is great, but you can't follow it up with a dud like that. We play down to the level of bad teams too often for a true contender.
Weren't our 2 losses to CBJ after they had only won like 3 of their last 12 too?
