This board has a bunch of the same people who ran Dubnyk out of town. The same people crying for trades so the front office panics. Our downfall was trading for griffin reinhart with those 2 picks, one that could have been barzal. The same people also were trying to dump broberg as a throw in during trade deadline or salvage him with a 4th rounder in return. The impatience of the fans makes it hard for this team to ever win a cup.

Oh shoot, if I knew it was our fault we didn't win the cup last year, I would have talked to the press. I promised Mess I wouldn't cry...

I'm not sure how you guys can blame Skinner on this game. 2nd goal giveaway, third goal breakaway. Bouchard didn't do his job on both. Funny how it works around here. First goal mcdavid whiffs and couldn't get the puck out. Those are all defensive breakdowns.

Lol thinking skinner is better than Saros is worse than any of this.

Game is 1000% on Bouchard.

Goal 2 - how can you expect Skinner to get set when the goal essentially teleports to Matthew Knies because of a dumbass, low awareness clear attempt?

Goal 3 - Might look like a breakaway goal, but until the very end it wasn't. There's no way Bobby McMann should have won that race.
Great avatar. One of my favorite shows.

Sigh. Very frustrating game to watch. Plenty of blame to go around for anyone not named Leon or McDavid. The 2 shots (?!) on the 5 min. powerplay. The lack or response on the dirty hit to Nurse. Bouch's atrocious defensive play/effort on the 2nd and 3rd goal. Lots to be frustarted with tonight.

At some point, your goalie has to make a big stop for you,. Skinner hasn't been able to do it this season, and we saw more of it tonight. A lot of his goals (The OT stinker not included), you can look at in a vacuum and think to yourself "Well, the defense blew it on that one, it's not on him" but even if that's true, the goalie has to stop some of those. It can't be an auto goal when it a dangerous play or blown coverage/giveaway. We see those kind of stops on the other side of the rink constantly. Sigh.

The thing people need to realize is that despite Skinner's underwhelming play is that there isn't going to be a goaltender available that moves the needle enough to make a trade worthwhile.

Maybe someone like Blackwood could catch lightning in a bottle, maybe not. However, Skinner given his body of work thus far is an average goalie. Average goalies will give you some good performances and some stinkers. In a cap world, the Oilers have made their bed spending on a top heavy lineup with holes everywhere else.

To improve goaltending on what Skinner brings would mean to acquire a goaltender who isn't available because you're looking a goaltender who is better than average and teams that have those goalies aren't trading them to us.

If someone told me we need to trade Pickard to get a Blackwood type in case Skinner can't hold the fort, i can get behind that but understand that with the Oilers being so tight to the cap, it will leave us less room to acquire a defenseman or a forward at deadline time.

There isn't a Dwayne Roloson out there for us to magically plug in and make things all better.... unfortunately,

I don’t think RVH applies when you’re facing a shooter on a 2 on 1. He’s just in some sort of I shit my pants stance that just happens to resemble RVH.

That is a textbook RVH but as you say it's not meant when facing down a shooter head on or on a 2 on 1. Shitting his pants is an apt description!

On every other team in the NHL every mistake does not end up in the back of their net. That breakaway goal could have been played better by a peewee goalie. A goalie has to make a save now and then, Skinner makes very few when it counts. Please put up a video of Skinner making a good save in today's game, I don't remember anything above average. As far as patience, do you see him progressing over the last 3 years?

Simply trade Skinner for the acquired goalie. Although, what team does that? Doesn’t that tell the story of how brutal Skinner plays.

Bouchard honestly should be bag skated for that. Turned a game in our control into a circus for no reason. Good player but he just can't help sabotaging early season games for some reason. Knoublaugh is not helping the situation by not having any accountability, he should have been benched after that first give away.

Skinner I'm not even going to blame him too much for that one, he is what he is, a back up goalie. It's just becoming more and more evident. You're going to have to get another goalie into the mix we have now to at least push the two guys we have at minimum, if not overtake them.

Vegas did this and Adin Hill did catch fire. Just take a chance on 3-4 guys, it's better than just standing pat.

I would absolutely take a shot on a Blackwood or Logan Thompson or someone like that.

This f***ing team is embarrassing. To have your player taken out like that and do nothing? One of their stars should have left on a stretcher, not be scoring game winners.

I don’t care. Take a suspension. It would have been worth it. This team deserves to lose.

Skinner isn't even average. If he was average we wouldn't notice opposition goalie being better 80-90% of the time. That his stats are not horrific (or more so) is due to the team in front of him limiting what he has to handle.

Skinner hasn't even been markedly better than any goalie we've had recently. not better than Pickard, not better even than Campbell. Its just the org says he's a starter and here we are years later in the same shit goaltending position.

It doesn't take a lot of improvement to make a difference here even a Blackwood could do that. Even a reasonable goalie without massive fundamental flaws in his game.

The match penalty results in the player being tossed from the game. Not sure what you think the Oilers ought to have done. Just go at somebody because Reaves is an idiot? Every player on both benches knows he is.
