Wow so he goes for "vet and grit" for the fourth line. Exactly what made us get demolished in the playoffs last time.

Amadio out is a joke.

Fourth line is the most talentless line I've seen in a long time.

Vegas D has some questionable puck movers. If these guys can get in on the forecheck, they can tenderize the opponent and perhaps allow one of the top lines to take advantage. I like Amadio, but this team was playing really good hockey with Iafallo and Mitchell in the lineup before they were injured/sick.

And Mitchell brings some speed to the team. Giving up puck skills on the 4th line for speed isn't the worst tradeoff.

Wish Amadio was in for Mitchell... Kempe on the PP doesn't excite me at all.

Why not? He barely got a chance with the extra man this year, one of the more skilled guys in the lineup, experience or not. Stevens should have given him a shot in the nothing game vs. Dallas, especially now that it looks like he will use him.

Edit: Quoted the wrong post but w/e.

I imagine the first 10 minutes of this one are going to be heavy. First ten minutes of the 2012 Blues series comes to mind. I'm sure it'll look like we have no business being in the same building because that's gonna be pure adrenaline. Minus the Kings taking the brunt of that force, I'm looking forward to it. Pretty frigging exciting time.

We were in the mid 20's in faceoff % for a good while, too. Seemed like our faceoff % improved as our PP did

I'm sure the acquisitions helped as well.

Wonder where we stand minus Kempe's faceoffs, because his are a huge drag.

Oh for sure. The acquisitions coincide with the uptick, I was just commenting on how far down we were at one point :)

Kempe is a winger, imo. With a high ceiling, potentially, due to his plus open ice puck handling and great skating, coupled with his very solid rookie debut. But Amadio has the vision and poise that I think Kempe lacks. Really hope he gets in there sooner rather than later

I did Kopitar, Carter, Mitchell, Amadio, Lewis, and Thompson and it came out to 53.4% which would be 2nd in the NHL, 0.7% behind Carolina. Left off Shore because he's not on the team anymore.

Kempe drops it to about 50.96%. I'm guessing Brown/Andreoff/Shore/whoever else dropped it the other 1.3%

Kings were 17th but I imagine that's because Kempe took over 680 and was at 38.5%. But Kopitar was at 54.1%, Carter at 55.8%, and Thompson at 56.4%.

Important stats. We shouldn't be scared to slow the game down and ice if we have to.

Amadio was just doing very good on the second PP unit. Anyone of those fourth liners could come out for him imo.

Well, that's ****ing terrifying.

Idk if you heard, but apparently the Kings will have no chance shutting down the high profile players of Vegas.

Most important thing...do not give up a goal within the first 10 minutes. I know that's asking a lot and the kings have a history of come backs during the POs but this ticker can only handle so much.

The possibly more important thing is to not give up a 2nd goal quickly after that probably inevitable 1st goal within the first 10 minutes.

my prediction for tonight.

from lak's point of view: to win this first game would be huge, to lose not tragic.
from vgk's point of view: to win would be fine (but not huge), and to lose would be almost tragic.

the risk/reward ratio is on lak's side. and the pressure is mostly on vgk.

it's not so much about playing good tonight, let's say it's about staying connected with the result. focus on how to win. and here the experience will start to show.

kings will win with 2 goals margin, with that empty net goal in last seconds.

gkg!

Amadio has trouble with defensive coverage, that's why he's out
I wish our D-men replacement had the same amount of skill as Amadio. He is a good option as a replacement. LaDue might come close, but we have a big drop off after him. I'm not very high on Gravel or Fantenberg. But if we can win a series a slow Greene and Schultz in 2014, we can survive a playoff game or two with Vegas to hopefully get Muzzin back. GKG
