Un-****ing-believable that Fantenberg is going to suit up in a playoff game.

I thought, and hoped, he would never wear a Kings jersey again after being sent down. Beside myself that he will be paired with Doughty.

Vegas forecheck is going to eat him alive.

What baffles me is not necessarily that Fantenberg is good or bad, but that he had very few games after the recall to even establish himself as being the best option for the playoffs. Stevens is a smart guy, so I suspect if by some chance he is playing, he plans to almost exclusively use him just for the powerplay.

Wish Amadio was in for Mitchell... Kempe on the PP doesn't excite me at all.

Amadio not in is criminal. Mitchell has been okay, but Amadio has been improving on an already strong showing, and yeah, our 2nd PP is better with him at C than Kempe. Damnit, missing out on a great chance for him

Stevens really wants a pure grind fourth line

Stevens leaning vet when it comes to going into a crazy atmosphere for Game 1.

Will not be surprised to see them lose tonight and get changes for Friday, i.e. Amadio and hopefully Muzzin.

Wow so he goes for "vet and grit" for the fourth line. Exactly what made us get demolished in the playoffs last time.

Amadio out is a joke.

Fourth line is the most talentless line I've seen in a long time.

The thing is Fantenberg is just so tweener it hurts, there is no outstanding strength-weakness to his game that Doughty can benefit from or cover for. He's just so weak.

Not fast, but not slow. Not stupid, but not smart/saavy. Not dynamic or improvisational. Not really a PP specialist, but definitely not a PK guy. Good shot I guess, but not great. Solid in open ice, but terrible on the wall. Actually yeah that's the biggest problem I have with his game--he's so soft on the puck. He couldn't win a puck battle at stick time and that is what would kill him. Everything else is just so bland/meh. If he plays with Drew, that's the worst d-partner he's ever had, even worse than late-stage Scuderi.

Then again, last time I was this outraged at Stevens we went on a tear, so who knows anymore.

I have high hopes for Kempe in these playoffs. If there's an x-factor for us it's him.

He didn't produce down the stretch, but he often looked dangerous. He's a bit of a streaky player, so when the points do come, they'll probably come in a bunch, and he's due.

Kempe was been pretty good in the playoffs for the Reign. 12 goals in 35 games.

His speed will be crucial for us in this series, and if he steps up, our strength down the middle will make us much more difficult to match up with.

Most important thing...do not give up a goal within the first 10 minutes. I know that's asking a lot and the kings have a history of come backs during the POs but this ticker can only handle so much.
Crowd is going to be LOUD at puck drop. Would be nice to silence then by not allowing them a goal in the first 10 minutes.

The Kings will have to get a lot of whistles the first 10 minutes of the game to slow things down and calm Vegas. Any time they are in the offensive zone, the Kings will have to just fling pucks to the net, drive to the net, and get the whistle. The key to success will be slowing the game down and dictating Kings hockey. If they play run and gun with Vegas they are guaranteed to lose.

Quick is really good at controlling tempo. Vegas is also 22nd in the NHL in faceoff % while Kopitar, Carter, and Thompson are all well over 50% so that'll help.
