Bedz? CMac should get the guillotine before anyone else.
You might be right, but I think CMac honestly tried to make the Avs a contender again this season. The goalie moves, Marty, and swinging for the fences at the deadline shows this.

If we lose, Bedz will be 0-3 vs DeBoer in the playoffs. Don't know how you can take any positives from that.

Not saying you're right or wrong, however I will point out that a continued flaw of Bednar, which has been pointed out time and time again, is his inability to adjust when a team successfully adapts to the Avs.

When they were THE premier high-octane team, DeBoer figured out how to slow them down. Seattle was also successful at slowing them down and taking away their primary skill.

DeBoer once again did it last year.

The only "counter" Bednar seems to have is to tell his players to work harder. CMac went out and acquired big-bodied players like Trenin & Duhaime last year and Bednar pretty much neutered their primary attribute(s)--their size and ability to muck it up.

We can all love and appreciate what he has done for the team, but he also is in a profession that has a typically short shelf-life, in terms of how long one lasts with a team, and he's one of the longest tenured coaches in the NHL. He's approaching 10 years with the Avalanche. And in that 10 years he still hasn't learned that sometimes you have to change your tactics if you keep running in to a brick wall.

If the Avs lose out in R1 or even R2, I'd personally not be surprised if CMac thinks long and hard about letting him go. He's gone all-in on the MacKinnon/Makar primes, and it would be another year wasted if they don't make a serious run for it.

Cmac has made some mistakes but he's also dealt with things in years past out of his control (injuries, the Nuke situation). This year he took a team with no depth and pathetic goaltending add made this team deep and gave them 2 good options in net. He went all in like everyone was screaming for him to do, now it's time for the players and coaches to get it done.

This team under Bednar has made it out of the 2nd round once and that was an incredibly deep team on a mission. His biggest issue has been not adjusting and he cannot solve a DeBoer team. He's dealt with the same issues out of his control, but there have been other opportunities where coaching failed this team.

Anything less than a WCF appearance this season and I think it's time to bring in a new voice.

Please sit Makar. He got his 30 goals and has the Norris locked up. Last thing we need is have him get injured with 4 games to go before the playoffs

Orrrrrrr play Makar at forward and let's get him to 40 goals.
In all seriousness though, Makar is not gonna score 10 goals to get to 40, and it’s a long shot he scores 9 points in 4 games to get to 100 points. Just sit him. There is no reason for him to play in all remaining 4 games

Question. If he plays the first two games and gets 6 points. Do you still sit him in the last two?

Something tells me the dude doesn't party quite the same way Val does.

His idea of a wild night is a LARGE slurpee from 7-11 (with flavourless protein powder) and some chickpeachocolate chip cookies.

I am really liking Coyle so far. I never knew he was that good of a playmaker. He is also very good at controlling the puck. In fact he is much better at it than Nelson. Until Necas and Drouin come back I would much prefer to see him on the right wall instead of Nelson and move Nelson in the bumper position. If he keeps going this way he will start making me believe he could be a good option for 2C next season if Nelson doesn't re-sign here.

If Nelson doesn’t re-signs with the Avs, we probably won’t have another choice but to make Coyle the 2C. At least until CMac goes shopping again and finds someone else. Our cap situation doesn’t look good for next year if Landy comes back and stays. I think we need to re-sign Lindgren. He’s been good for us

I guess somebody comes back for tomorrow night against Vancouver.

There would be no other reason to do this as the Eagles don’t play until Friday night.

Unless Bednar just really hated Wagner leading the team in hits and getting in a fight last night.
Considering we had like 5-6 guys in the "day to day" category, this isn't shocking to me. I bet a couple of them will be ready to go tomorrow - thinking Necas is probably closest?

That was a great hit by Wagner. I wish he had been a little more reluctant to accept the fight, might have drawn the instigator.

It's kind of crazy MacKinnon leads the league in points and is shooting at 10.0%.

He has the worst shooting percentage of the top 75 forward point leaders in the NHL. Celebrini at 9.5% is 75th in the league in points.

MacK also leads the entire league in shots at 320. Wild. 320 shots with a 10% goal rate. No wonder he has regressed from 51 goals last year to just 32 this season. Last year he was at 12.6%. That would be over 40 goals this season with his shot total.

Why do you guys think this is?

Bad luck? Poor shot selections? I notice he throws a ton of weak ass floaters from the perimeter on goal instead of driving the net for high percentage chances like he used to do.

Crazy to me that he leads the league in shots this year. It seems like he's constantly passing up shooting opportunities to pass this year. Although I guess he is pacing for ~70 less shots than he was last year, so there is some credence to him passing up on shooting.
