Savard is a slow footed defenseman who struggles to make a pass.

He would be an abomination in Bednar’s system trying to retrieve pucks with speed and attempting 50 foot passes to forwards in the neutral zone.

His job with Montreal involves making 5-10 foot passes sideways to Lane Hutson who also does all of the puck retrievals.

Savard has lost more than a step or two.

It's not that I like CDH. But I objectively think he's a more rounded dman than Middleton. That being said... There are certain teams/games where I would dress Keaton. He's a tool. He's a very specific tool and he's not even that great at it, but he's better than CDH at absorbing forechecks and quickly moving the puck to Samwise the 2nd.

Can not begin to express how happy I am that Cogs can have the kind of effect on players where they respond positively to him showing up. For him going into management, having faith of players... I mean, having players love you. This bodes well for the kind of relationships he's maintaining and really just the man that he is.

Some folks dig all day on superstars. Me? I've got all the time in the world for a hard working, persistent, never say die player. They might not grace the top 10 lists but damnit they are the reasons championships get won and this guy could very well be responsible for another one or two if things break right.
