A few interesting notes:
- The team posts a page and a half or so of key analytics about each opponent in the dressing room ahead of the games.
- Centers receive footage of the opposing centers faceoffs on their iPads to review before games.
- Bednar really likes having Drury and Coyle on the PK to take draws; Drury left side and Coyle right side. Says the addition of Coyle means less PK minutes for Lehky and Nuke, which is of course a good thing.
- Parkkila is part of the scouting and tape review for upcoming opponent goaltenders. They also post the stats of what types of goals the goalies allow and talk about it with the team. Both Bednar and Parkkila work with our goalies to review how the opposing team score their goals, what they like to do on the power play, etc. Jared is heavily involved in the goaltending part.
- Says Gabe looks great, working towards a return.
- Both Gabe and Manson will come on the road trip even though neither will play.
- Manson’s upper body injury not related to his previous one(right wrist). Bednar will know more by the Toronto game on Wednesday. They were getting some second opinions on the injury today. Week to week and not day to day.
- Loves the makeup of the dressing room. All of the additions… Nelson, Coyle, Lindgren, EJ, Vesey… bring a level of veteran experience and professionalism that the team needed. They prepare and handle themselves like pros.
