Pre-Game Talk: Week of a Canadian Roadie, @Leaves, @Sens, and @Habs

Friedman talked today about Duchene's (and Deboer's) comments about not getting enough calls yesterday. Saying it lays the groundwork for the playoffs.

Hmm.

Nothing we didn’t all know or believe.

DeBoer has done it every playoff series against us. By game 2 or so, he complains the refs aren’t letting the teams play and calling them for every little thing.

They’re just getting a head start this year.

I mean, I hope it doesn't come to this, but if the ref'ing gets that bad... I want EJ to sacrifice himself for the team and just beat the shit out of the refs to ensure we get some new eyes in the next game. Fire those slappers that are normally destined for shinpads straight at the refs head in the corner. Lose your balance and akwardly take one into the corner. Take a slapper in close next to a ref and make sure your damn follow through, follows through if you know what I mean. If it's to be his final shift in the NHL make it as memorable, if not moreso, than Footers.

Drew Helleson, literally the guy they traded away for Manson.

The Avs were also in on Brandon Carlo in a Coyle package before the Leafs agreed to include Fraser Minten in the deal. Avs couldn’t match that.
Do you know what the Avs were offering Boston for Carlo?

I presume Helleson may have been a piece discussed if CMac sent Mittelstadt to Anaheim instead of Boston, since there was some smoke about Anaheim liking Mittelstadt.

DeBoer did the same with Vegas. After going 2-0 down in 2021 he complained about the refs and after that the refs stopped calling anything against them the rest of the series.
Why the refs actually register any of that yapping is beyond me.

- Loves the makeup of the dressing room. All of the additions… Nelson, Coyle, Lindgren, EJ, Vesey… bring a level of veteran experience and professionalism that the team needed. They prepare and handle themselves like pros.
The team was already better on ice after the Rantanen trade, but he left a big void in the room. Rantanen was apparently one of the most vocal guys in the room, making jokes and lightening the mood. Bringing in EJ to fill that hole is just so important.
