I'd easily give a first and MIN's second for Garrett. To be clear, I still don't think this is our year for the SB, but you'd get the biggest difference maker around and who the hell knows with the way KC has been playing and BAL's Jekyll and Hyde season... (The NFC is a mix of trash and overachievers, so in my mind those are the two best teams we'd have to beat)

Aside from this year, you could then cut Miller in the off-season and have actually improved the pass rush before free agency and the draft even start. There should still be cap space to replace/improve positions of need AND add depth. New rotations and base-D options become available. There's so much upside, of course with the risk of age and cost. Which I'd wager are worth it.

If there’s anything you can rely on, it’s the browns mismanaging their affairs. Trading him now fits their MO
I'd trade this year's 1st and next year's 1st. Browns are likely in tear down mode with the Watson fiasco, and might consider drafting a QB. They'll need to eat a lot of salary at some point, so moving on from Garrett and collecting picks could be the way ahead.

That could also be the logic in keeping McD and not gambling on a new coach being better or worse than McD.
if we’re citing the original stat, it’s the opposite. You can argue that it’s not meaningful but a >0% rate is better than a 0% rate

The trouble of course is that there’s no way for any of us to really have evidentiary support for positions on McDermott based on team performance. Imagine that the bills win a bunch of regular season games and bow out to the chiefs or ravens in divisional. One might say that this proves the team has a ceiling with the current coaching. Another might say that without said coaching they don’t get that far in the first place. Either *could* be true (though obviously we have our own ideas) and without ownership making a change we’ll never know. I could see them stuck in this lane for most of Allen’s career because if there’s anywhere in the nfl that’s a trap, it’s Good but not Great

For me the challenge is that a different head coach is not guaranteed to be better.

And if you look at how things have worked out in many of the recent coaching change offseasons, it is way worse than a coin toss to hire a new coach and they turn out to be a solid hire.

Detroit OC Ben Johnson will be a hot name.

Maybe he is the next Sean McVay. Or, maybe he's the Mike McDaniel.

And how much can you trust Terry Pegula when it comes to hiring a coach?

Yeah, there’s absolutely no guarantee of improvement. If you’re in a position where you think you’re hard-capped short of the overall goal, though, taking the swing is the only thing that makes sense even knowing the risk. Whether or not that hard cap is there is the root of the issue, right?

I’d hope and pray that Terry wasn’t involved in the selection, but of course, it’s his money.

I agree it's not a guarantee, but I trust Brandon Beane being able to find a suitable replacement. The man seems to know football pretty darn well, or at least knows what it would take to succeed.

Also, the Bills would be quite the destination for any coaching candidate. I could see a guy like Vrabel, if the opportunity rose, to find Buffalo a good next stop (if he was available). Heck, I could see Buffalo being a solid place for Belichick to look at for a return, especially if he could just focus on the coaching aspect.

I won't be shocked if they use a relatively early pick at OG if they move on from Edwards and it is Anderson vs the rookie for the LG spot.
you will also have Van Pran-Granger in the mix at center at some point.

I really believe Beane and McD are a tandem tbh and will not separate. I could be wrong.

If something drastic happens coaching wise, I'd really want an offensive mind to come in. Rotating out our OC every 1-2 years is a PITA.

I agree, at least in the mid-term.

vrabel new England coaches helped by outside forces for a decade

they can sit and spin brewski can as well.

listening to the ambrosia spokes person, Tommy , both him and will Smith , ya know Brady , the guy who never shied away from a narrative example of football perfection explained to us little people that didn't start and end with the pronoun ... I , over and over and over women actually believe this is what humble confidence looks like wow comedy all the time troy aikmam appears as a humble heroic figure in compare Fox foxy blog are geniuses we can all creste our own branch of child protective services and a charity to protect against traffic w helicoptors working in tandem w Hollywood where these poor abused children are whisked away to the nearest mansion to a " timeout " where for 72 hours , trusted to be temporary guardians outside the lame court system. they are mercifully sedated and allowed to swim and drink and take a timeout they'll never forget such loving memories w today's stars All sign an nda of course w each new family as guardian to supervise and connect w their own children

being in buffalo w real challengs I'm thrilled w McD and crew w the world agaust us winning play jazz in the moment as consistently teaching it is a lot harder than that patriot way of being given plays , oh I mean good adjust meants

time has gone by and end results without the lame means has infected even buffalo boards w retrograde amnesia us old coots will know and the true will pound the table for the morally bankrupt that don't believe in sports

vrabel is the least toolish of the tainted tree and seems to be a good coordinator but why would anyone in buff want any "patriot " act coach in buffalo

There is a 0% chance that Terry Pegula is not heavily involved in the hiring of any GM or head coach of the Sabres and Bills as long as he's the owner.

That is the case for every team. There is no head coaching hire where the owner isn't involved. Especially with the Bills where the head coach reports directly to the owner and not to the GM.

Yeah, it’s more a matter of degree between guys like Jones and say, Bisciotti, where I’d much more hope for the latter

E: though that does open the window for ludicrous situations like that zealot on the Texans

While I think I'd prefer a HOU loss tonight for potential seeding purposes, it would also be funny to see the Jets be more or less buried at 2-7, with zero wins after firing their HC, demoting Hackett, and panic-trading for Adams.
Looking at Houston's remaining schedule.....they've got just as many loseable games left as we do (Lions, Cowboys, Chiefs, Ravens).

I'm rooting for the Jets to be dead and buried.

Either outcome is fine by me. Jets are funny no matter what imo
