Listening to Bruglers pod on the athletic and gosh it sounds like a bad first round draft, especially for top end talent and certain positions. One thing that really stuck out is him saying the top OT this year (who might have to move to guard) might not have been a top 7 OT last year and probably shouldn’t have a first round grade. Very rough year for the position and I’m really glad we have both ours locked up.
I’ve almost exclusively run every mock so far with a trade down try because of that. The trick will be hoping someone falls that a team likes.

Campbell and Banks as the top two OTs is weaker for sure. I think there’s better depth though. The tackles from William & Mary and BC are worth day two picks and could be good.

I’ve settled a bit on Landon Jackson right now. I think he’s going to be a heck of a RE in the NFL.

And one of the top QB ceilings is Daniel Jones, blah

I think one of the lower ranked QBs (Miller Moss, Garrett Nussmeier) is going to surprise.

Riley Leonard would be a good add for the Bills at QB. His game is a poor man’s Allen, so he’d fit the offense.

If we didn't have Trubisky locked in for next year, I would have been strongly advocating for Daniel Jones to come in and be Allen's apprentice for a year.

But yeah, Leonard would be a good fit in a later round as a developmental guy.

Boy with all the penalties they called it sure looked like the Detroit guy was lined up offside on that sack

Edit: maybe not. How do you just not block that guy. They even threatened on that edge with a corner even wider than he was

My god I’m glad I’m not a bears fan. That was embarrassing.
After the sack, they have 2 options:

1) Take the timeout immediately, meaning you have to work the sidelines to get back into FG range
2) Get lined up, get the play off, pick up some yards call the timeout and kick at the gun

I like the second option better, but you HAVE to get that snap off with 10-15 seconds left on the clock. Once it went below 10, Eberflus needed to call a timeout because you basically put yourself in Hail Mary mode and you NEEDED to get set up for it.

Absolutely moronic coaching and execution there.

I might have gone with the first approach, thinking if you don’t get the first down and your WR is down in bounds on a reception that moves you into FG range, you’ve probably got somewhere between 20-25 seconds left to try and sub everyone and get the kick off. Maybe less with how Williams sometimes looks to extend plays. Either way, it was crazy to watch Flus just leave the TO in his pocket when the offense was burning so much time and couldn’t get set

The edge guy looked confused for a second off the snap, like, “how do I have this free path to the QB?”

Also. With so little time, only needing a field goal to tie, why were they running 4 go routes as time expired?

Unrelated, sounds very unlikely that Purdy will suit up on Sunday.
