Alright. Time for a Fantasy Football whine.

QB: Joe Burrow (Jordan Love today)
RBs: Saquon Barkley, James Cook
WRs: Justin Jefferson, Deebo
TE: Kittle
FLEX: Davante Adams/Rhamondre Stevenson/TJ Hockenson
K: Boswell
D/ST: Varies

I've scored the 2nd most points in my league. I'm about to go 5-7.

The last 2 weeks I've lost to the team that has scored the most points for the week....and have the 2nd most points for the week.

Infuriating.
Ah the memories.....

I had that years ago. Ba very good toster but end up playing trams ehos players had carerr games or outlier games like you know an oppo sd ing receiver regularly gets 60y and a TD but he puts up 150+ and 3TDs

A lot of things have changed in the NFL since then.
This topic is fascinating to me and I wish an in depth podcast was done on the subject.

In the off-season, Brady said that he thought NFL coordinators were dumbing NFL offenses down to allow college QBs to come in and contribute faster. I agree with him. Take a look back at how long it took for past QBs to contribute and become elite. Look up Dan Fouts, Warren Moon, Steve Young, etc. None of them were good right away. A case could be made that the Steelers won their first Super Bowl in spite of Terry Bradshaw.

While defenses are more complex now (mixing of systems), all 4 offensive systems were fully developed by the time Jim Kelly was calling his own plays. The development after Kelly was the mixing of systems.

A strong case could be made that Kelly was among the fastest accurate decision makers of all time. He ran a run'and'shoot offense, which is just a sight adjustment offense. He made some of the quickest pre- and post-snap reads I've ever witnessed.

I think QBs like Kelly, Aikman, Elway, Marino, Montana, Young, Favre, etc. could come into today's NFL and be elite right away with how the reads have been simplified and modified to look like the college game. Of course, aside from Elway and Young, none of those guys could move like today's QBs. But I think the play calling may have been more advanced and the reads more difficult in past versions of the NFL.

It's worth a really good podcast with maybe Belichick (to talk defenses), Brady, Elway, Marino, and some offensive play callers from the time like Holmgren and Gruden.

You take the deal and RUN. Hopkins looks like he's coming along with Mahomes and Jeudy seems to be getting chemistry with Jameis. You've got NOTHING at backup RB.
Yeah, get the RB depth down the stretch for sure. @Dubi Doo
Welp. That trade may actually tank my season. Robinson, of course, got injured as soon as I tuned into the game yesterday in the 1st Q. Traded McConkey, obviously, but was thinking of trading Downs instead who is now likely to miss multiple weeks with a shoulder injury.

So, in the span of this week, my WR depth took a big hit (McConkey and Downs gone), and my big name addition that was supposed to provide RB depth may be out multiple weeks, too. Just in time for the playoffs in a couple of weeks.

Geez. That's the nature of the game I suppose

Yep, with Purdy, Kittle, McCaffery, Bosa all playing they're a very different team. And even with all the injuries they're a very unlucky 5-7 - they were 6th in overall dVOA entering the week. No doubt they'll be a dangerous team if it's not Brandon Allen at QB.
They are not unlucky to be 5-7 they got straight up blown out like they didn't even belong against the Packers. Bosa is good but look at Detroit without Hutchinson they are still world beaters.

That's one loss. They've had several games where they've outgained opponents and outplayed them on a play to play basis and still lost at the very end. And they've been dealing with injuries literally all year. Take the QB off our roster and Green Bay probably blows us out too.

Taking the QB off the roster is not the same as the best defensive player and the Bills are already missing one of their best defensive players and lead the league in turnovers and have a respectable PPG on D.

First of all, this is irrelevant unless your suggesting that losing your best defensive player is worse than losing your QB. San Fran has at various times lost their starting all-pro RB, all-pro TE, strong #2 WR, HOF lineman, and best defensive player, often at the same time. But losing Purdy (QB1) was the final straw that brought the whole thing tumbling down for them this week. All of them are expected to play against us except Aiyuk, AFAIK.

Second of all, Bosa is on another tier to Milano, as important as he is to our defense. And yes, the Bills have survived a series of injuries, though our OL and QB1 has thankfully stayed healthy (or healthy enough to play) so far (knock on wood)

sabres win against the wild , 4 in a row and pretty much cement a winning record for the year after a handicap start of 0 4 and 1 ?

the Bills have niners playing for their life w us finally healthy or almost but fragile but at home we expect to win
we have Rams playing for life and all in against us and finally our last tune up test before playoffs to defeat the Lions on the road w enough time to heal 4 to 5 weeks and injury all in for these two road games

I could see full team participate in two hone games w Jets and pats w the final game as needed

That's part of why I stopped playing. There seemed to be more bad luck than good luck and I didn't want to feel negativity towards a sport I enjoy so fantasy had go. I play the pick 'em and survivor on this site but only make picks based on my initial thought with zero research or effort. There are no regrets about dropping fantasy football from my life but to each their own.

Joe and Troy are D-O-N-E with the refs. They do acknowledge that a lot of what has been called lately on MNF have been legit.....but they seem really done with the ticky-tack stuff.

Can't stand those two though, as a neutral fan always put on the Manningcast. When the Bills are playing though you need actual replays/injury news/etc that you don't get on the Manningcast (especially when the non-football guests come on)...

I've found that they've mellowed out significantly since they transitioned to ESPN. I despised them on Fox......but I actually find myself enjoying Joe's PBP.

I think it's safe to say at this point that LA's defensive numbers were inflated by a weak schedule to open the season. Baltimore having their way with them after a slow-ish start.

I seriously hate being that f***ing guy, but the quickness of whistles when Lamar is being tackled as a runner vs the way they let teams tee off on Josh is f***ing infuriating.

The thing that scares me about Baltimore is the home run ability in the run game. They can just break the big one at any time, and our defense is still susceptible to that.
