A win over Boise, who would be close to or in the top 10 by the time of the game, holds more weight than you think. It's also a far more impressive win, especially on thoad and for a conference title, than beating unranked Memphis and Army, who despite their 9 and 10 wins weren't even ranked. The committee realizes the AAC is weak this season, and in this scenario, UNLV would've had a better win against a ranked team, as well as 2 wins against power 4 conference teams (albeit Houston and Kansas, plus Oregon St. in a down year), while Tulane lost to both Oklahoma and K-State. UNLV would also have had the better loss. The fact that it's 17 vs 22 isn't as wide of a separation when debating teams, and so, while Tulane may have held on to the spot, there would have been a very realistic chance that UNLV ended as the 12 seed if both them and Tulane ended 11-2 and conference champs.
If they were that weak, Tulane wouldn’t be so far ahead of UNLV. 5 spots is a lot given how intentional they are about the rankings.

If the AAC was worth anything, an x-2 Memphis and x-1 Army would be ranked. The conference has done very badly out of conference against anyone of note this season. 5 spots really isn't the chasm you've made it out to be. As I said, UNLV would've had a very real chance to make it in, even with Tulane winning the American, although not guaranteed.

Arizona State beat a team ahead of them and needed 4 other teams to lose to move up 5. Tulane needed 6 teams to lose to go from 25 to 20 two weeks ago. You need a lot to happen to move up 5 spots, so yes it is something of a chasm. There was not a realistic scenario for UNLV to jump Tulane without Tulane losing.

Colorado scores twice in short order to go up 35-0. I’m guessing they’re gonna run up the stats in front of the home crowd.

Jeanty breaks off a big run to get to the red zone. Field goal goes to 27-10.

Yes there was. Most of those teams between them wouldn't even have been playing next week, and UNLV would have a far more impressive win and better wins and losses overall. There was very much a chance, despite you proclaiming there wasn't like it's fact or something.

Texas may start their back up QB tomorrow, which will eliminate themselves from the playoff since the starter is hurt.

But Tulane is one of those teams playing. And they're ahead of UNLV by 5 spots right now despite having 'better wins.' They are actual facts, that's why I'm proclaiming them.

Yes, they are 5 spots ahead and playing unranked teams. UNLV will have a chance to beat a highly ranked opponent in their home stadium, for a conference title. The facts are that Tulane currently has a lead by 5 spots, which is far from insurmountable, that they would have had 0 ranked wins and no wins against anyone outside of the conference to point to, while UNLV can at least say they both played more power 4 conference teams and beat 2 of them plus a former one in Oregon St. The eye test would have also likely favored UNLV, as beating a quality opponent such as Boise would make them look better overall than.Tulane beating a fraudulent Army team. There are many factors that lead to a reasonable argument for UNLV getting the spot regardless of how Tulane fared. None of your proclamations as to why they would've had "no chance" are convincing me, and since it's not a situation that's going to occur.anyway, I'm done discussing it.

Wisconsin had nothing against Minnesota, eh? With a chance go bowl-eligible.
